Poor quality

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

So after my second ride the stitching came off on the wrist. Is it worth paying for shipping to send it back? Looks good new. after 10 rides the stitching is coming apart in other places. Made in china!!!! This jacket has been used lightly.

Poor quality

Wow! Pathetic.
Not just made-in-China, either: myself (and some others') have had similar problems with some Giordana, made-in-Italy...
Too much focus on mass-production & Gross Profit margins! It's a shame.

Hey Cruiser, Gore do tend to be a slimmer fit and I've had my jacket now for a season and find that the wrist opening is quite small for me and it's very tight getting the jacket off sometimes. The material doesn't stretch much. So I can see that depending of the size of your wrist and hand the stitching could break if forced....I've heard the stitching in mine crack a couple of times when not taking care. Thankfully the stitching hasn't broken yet. But other than that I love the jacket.

Stitching came out of mine there too in first days of ownership. I ride with it almost daily probably 6 months out of the year here in Vancouver and have had it for about 2 full years now. That's the only issue I've had with it.

My beef is what caused it in the first place: the stupid neoprene cuff. I bitched about the neoprene cuff on the waterproof Oxygen GT AS I own as well, but that's because it just acts like a sponge. On the Alp-X it's just plain useless (don't say it keeps the wind out; the cuff without the neoprene would do that just fine).

Neoprene is for wetsuits.
