Gear Review

Love them

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

At first, I thought they were a bit on the heavy side, but after using them for several rides, I realized that they are great for mountain biking. They are durable yet comfortable. The stiff sole doesn't flex under hard pedaling so I love these shoes. I recommend them to any rider that is looking for a shoe that works well on and off road, and also blends in with your casual riding gear.

I would recommend these to anybody that is looking for a nice looking, durable shoe, that performs well under any circumstance. As a matter of fact, I'm so satisfied with them, I am looking into picking up another pair of Five Ten shoes in the near future. They fit true to size so you do not have to second guess what size to order.

I do not agree that they fit true to size. They were 1/2 size too large. I'm a perfectionist though fwiw ; )

I agree with Metz; having worn both mens and womens FiveTen riding shoes over the years, most of their mountain bike styles fit about a 1/2 size too big. Also, for the Karver and the Hellcats, they seem to pack out/wear in quickly, making them wishy-washy and loose if you're not careful about what size you wear. Personally, when buying a new pair of FiveTens online, I give myself plenty of time to return them and get another pair if need be -- the fit of a MTB shoe can sometimes be the decider between staying on those pedals or slipping off of them because of slop.
