Currently the best MTB shoe on market
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
If you were to base a shoe's rating on grip alone, the five ten freerider would be a 5/5. You just cannot beat stealth rubber. Rather than spending all your extra $$$ on fancy pedals, you can just wear these shoes instead, which turns just about any platform into a stable ride. Very solid ankle support, and foot protection. My criticisms; UGLY. Seriously, this is a bulky-ass shoe. It's not heavy by any stretch, just chunky and ugly. They are a little wide/large volume in the toebox. I have to put a pair of pillow insoles in mine to pad them out a bit, and they are still a little too big. Not length mind you, just overall size in the toebox. All said and done, if you're ready to to make the switch from some flimsy VANS (like I did) and want the best grip for your money, this is it. Now only if they'd make a good looking shoe too...
