Vive Le Roi Frameset

Knowing that cyclists like options, Tyson Hart designs all of his Civilian bicycles with versatility in mind. The new Vive Le Roi is no exception, as its steel frame and carbon fork provide the perfect platform for the cyclocross build of your choice. The Vive Le Roi comes with all of those little features -- front derailleur cable routing and sliding rear dropouts, for example -- that stay out of the way when not being used, but jump into action when needed. It's a smart, clean design that we prefer, and it lets you decide exactly how you want your new machine to look, ride, and feel. Customize away.

For the frame itself, the Vive Le Roi was built using tried-and-proven double-butted 4130 steel tubing. And while we know that you're probably well-versed on the smooth and comfortable ride characteristics associated with steel-tubed bikes, we will say that this frame carries all of that and a bunch more. The tubes follow a rather traditional geometry, which allows you to get a fit that works exactly for your riding style, and they were joined in a way that maximizes both lateral stiffness and vertical compliance. Up front, Civilian's oversized 'Chubby' head tube was incorporated, meaning that in addition to providing increased rigidity and stability on the front end of the frame, it also lets you integrate the fork of your choosing. The Vive Le Roi does, however, come equipped with a full-carbon, 1-1/2in to 1-1/8in, disc-mount Hart-designed fork. As a package, the frame and fork provide the perfect blend of stiffness and predictable handling, regardless of the cross course conditions that'll be awaiting you this fall.

At the back end of the frame, Tange steel sliding dropouts were added. This design allows you to easily build the bike up as a singlespeed, or, just as simply, throw on a hanger and rear derailleur to be geared and ready to go. Along those same lines, the Vive Le Roi was also built with front derailleur cable routing, meaning that you'll be able to set up the machine with both front and rear mechanisms.

The Civilian Vive Le Roi Frameset is available in the sizes 50, 53, 55, 57, 59, and 61cm, and it comes in the color Podium Blue. The frame was built with a 68mm English bottom bracket and accommodates a 28.6mm clamp-on front derailleur, and uses a ZS44 | EC44 headset.. Please note that the frame and fork only accommodate disc brakes, as canti mounts were not added.
