Description

Your needs shouldn't be compromised by comfort.

Stiff and slick carbon-soled cycling shoes have their place, but running errands around town isn't one of them. That's why Chrome's Truk SPD Shoes strike a balance with comfortable, SPD-compatible shoes. So, when riding to the bar becomes equally important to racing, you won't be slipping around the floor or destroying your precious carbon.

Chrome's Truk SPD Shoes are made from an almost identical fabric to what's used in its messenger bags — 1000 denier Cordura. As you probably know, this stuff is strong — like we've had the same Chrome bag for nine years strong. And aside from the upper material selection, Chrome made the whole shoe resilient to the day-to-day thrashings of urban riding. The sole is made from ultra-durable vulcanized rubber, and its also been made skid-resistant for riding or walking in all weather conditions. For the construction, Chrome used a board lasted sole to stiffen up the shoes and to eliminate the threat of hot spots.

Outside of Truk's commuter advantages, Chrome made them to be durable. The heel is protected from potential bails by a rubber heel cup, and the midsole is reinforced with a nylon/glass fiber shank. Truk's low-profile also makes it easy to get in and out of most SPD-compatible pedals.

The Chrome Truk Pro Shoes are compatible with most two-hole SPD cleats. They're available in odd and even sizes from 5.0 through 13.0 and in the colors Black and Grey.

With the SPD cleats installed, can you still walk around in these shoes? Or are the like road bike shoes, where you need to cover the cleat?

Hey Jessica,

With the cleat installed it should be flush with the surface of the sole so that you can get off your bike and spend the rest of your nigh barhopping on foot.

I am new to clip pedals and cleats and I was wondering what type of pedal would be compatible to this shoe. The shoe is 2-Hole MTB Compatible. I am not entirely sure what that means. If anyone could help, that would be great.

There are a few different options for you, but the most common type of pedal that you are looking for is called an SPD pedal (note: NOT "SPD-SL")

Here's a link to Backcountry's selection of SPD pedals (but do note that some "SPD-SL" pedals are included in this page... you should ignore them!)

Don't be afraid of the cheaper models of SPD pedal: they are still rock solid.
