The new king.

Chris King headsets are often considered the gold standard for headsets in the cycling world. Building on a reputation for bombproof reliability, the Inset 2 Headset retains Chris King's storied quality and precision with a new design to meet the needs of frames that use a semi-integrated headset.

The main difference between the Inset 2 and the well-known NoThreadset is that the Inset 2's bearings sit inside the head tube instead of being housed in cups on either side of it. The big bonus of the Inset 2 is that all those riders with frames requiring a semi-integrated headset can now get in on the Chris King train of awesomeness.

The Inset 2 Headset also utilizes Chris King's new GripLock compression ring assembly in its top bearing for a safe and secure headset fit. The Inset 2 is compatible with tapered fork steerer tubes and can be adapted to pair with straight 1 1/8-inch steerer tubes by using a Devo baseplate (sold separately).

  • Tapered, semi-integrated (zero stack) headset
  • Aluminum cups and caps
  • Stainless steel bearings
  • GripLock compression ring assembly
  • Compatible with tapered 1 1/2-to-1 1/8-inch steerer tubes and straight 1 1/8-inch steerer tubes
  • Compatible with tapered head tubes with a 44-millimeter upper internal diameter and a 56-millimeter lower internal diameter

Only the King for Mach 6

After a little debate I decided to go with this InSet 2 Headset over Cane Creek on my new Pivot Mach 6. Why build a Boost enduro machine and skimp on the components? I have only ever had one bike with a Chris King Headset and am still kicking myself for selling it. But the King is back and here to stay. Best componentry out there and assembled in the USA.

Big thanks to Joe Bolton in our Retail Store Bike Shop for getting my new Mach 6 put together. If you are ever in Salt Lake City definitely stop by our Retail Store to check out their bike selection and visit Joe (2607 S 3200 W, Suite A, West Valley UT 84119). Contact me with any questions about this headset, especially if you are interested in custom building a new mountain bike.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Chris King makes the only headset I'll run on any bike I own. Why? Because they machine, polish and hand assemble everything in their Portland facility for quality, availability and product control. Everything they make, they guarantee and their raw materials are sourced from US mills to guarantee the best processes available.

Not only are they US made, but Chris King's InSet headsets are some of the smoothest, strongest headsets available. You won't hear them clicking, popping, stuttering or pulling after a few months, because Chris King headsets are designed to last for the lifetime of the bike... And longer. The InSet 2 was designed for low-stack quality in bikes with tapered pairings.

Do yourself a favor and make the investment in your bike that a Chris King headset is.

A headset that will last longer then your bike.
Why spend a bunch of money on a new bike and put a cheap headset in the thing. I have never had an issue with king headsets and will always use them in the future.

does this fit with the 2013 yeti sb66 carbon frame?

    thanks

Yes, it should fit but just in case measure the inside diameter of both the top lower openings of the headtube. The top inside diameter should measure 44mm and the lower inside diameter should measure 56mm (I had a 2014 Yeti SB66c with this headset).
