Where the Grifo is a do-it-all tire, the Challenge Limus 33 Team Edition Cross Tubular Tire is a do-it-muddy tire. Its lugs are designed for maximum gripping surface area and are widely spaced to shed muck.

Even the side knobs are designed for traction in deep mud, and they are reinforced laterally to improve cornering. Its 320TPI Corespun casing also helps allow the Limus grip in less than favorable conditions by effortlessly conforming to the ground. The Challenge Limus 33 Team Edition Tubular Cross Tire comes in a 700c x 33mm size with black tread and natural sidewall.

Challenge Limus tubular CX tire

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are the best CX mud tubulars I have ever used. Not that I have used a ton of mud tires, but I have used the Clement PDX tubulars in the mud. Comparing these two against each other. I would say that the overall feel and control in sloppy conditions goes to the Limus. Although, the Clement tires are lighter, and I would say a better all arounder. I would pick the heavier better gripping Challenge tire as my mud/ snow tires anyday. If you have do choose one for everything, and want something that will also handle well in the mud I would pick the Clements. Oh the joys of having a few sets of tubular wheels.
