Have you ever had the feeling that some of your gear is smarter than you? While this might be possible, say with Campy EPS, we feel that pieces like the Catlike D'Lux Plus Photochromic Sunglasses at least improve upon the inadequacies of the human body.

Not surprisingly, Catlike's foray into eyewear follows the same ideological path as its helmets, starting with functionality. The frames are made from a lightweight and durable, dual-compound polycarbonate. For the Plus, you'll find that the lens shape follows an ample, curved profile, rather than the D'Lux Micro offering. However, the Plus' shape is still relatively compact and is still a feathery, lightweight overall design. At the arms of the Plus, Catlike has rubberized a majority of the surface area. This prevents slippage against either either your skin or helmet when you rest the glasses during a long climb. To further the precise fit of the Plus, Catlike has also included an adjustable nose bridge with a similar anti-slip rubberized surface. This allows you to make minute adjustments in order to dial-in the position of the glasses. Additionally, you'll find that the rubber is soft-to-the-touch, as to make the bridge nonbinding and non-obtrusive.

For the lenses, Catlike designed them to be interchangeable. So, you can run clear lenses in low-light conditions, or the polarized, blue blocker lenses in bright conditions. Either way, Catlike's European engineered and manufactured lenses feature an anti-scratch, water-repellent, and anti-reflective design that will provide a consistent, 100% light transmission. Additionally, you won't have to worry about internal condensation, as the frame design allows ample airflow through in order to prevent misting. Not surprisingly, this Photochromic iteration of the Plus features a photochromic lens. This means that the lenses darken under ultraviolet light, and lessen their gradient in lower-light conditions. Basically, this means that the Plus will adapt to its surroundings during your ride. So, when you pop in and out of a shady canyon, the Plus will deliver a consistently appropriate level of protection.

The Catlike D'Lux Plus Photochromic Sunglasses are available in one size and in the colors Carbon/black, Green/white, Red/white, White/green, White/orange, White/black, White/red, and White/blue.

Much better than OakleyPhotochromic $280

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I compared both glasses, the Catlike d'lux plus and the Oakley photochromic glasses, and by far the catlike glasses work better. The Oakley's didn't even change with light. These are 100 cheaper, and feel great.
