Know thyself.

CatEye's Stealth Evo Plus Bike Computer expands on the Stealth Evo's simple approach to metric gathering with the addition of ANT+ capability, which allows for connectivity with speed and cadence sensors, heart rate monitors, and power meters. Considering that it was developed with feedback from riders on Jelly Belly's Sport Beans Pro Cycling Team, this expanded horizon of use is no surprise; but the fact that CatEye managed to preserve the ease of use that has long made it a constant presence on handlebars for all levels of cycling certainly is. All told, it's one of the most intuitive ways to chart your information and capabilities in the saddle.

Since it already tracks speed by GPS, the speed and cadence sensor connectivity is the least compelling benefit of ANT+ capabilities. The heart rate monitor is, of course, a nice benefit, but the power meter functions are what really make the Stealth Evo Plus pop. It not only records power numbers over the course of your ride, but it also displays maximum and — more importantly — average watts. It can also track the power your producing with either leg, allowing for a whole new level of scrutiny to address weak spots in your pedal stroke.

The list of functions goes on to include standard features: current altitude, ride time, trip distances and an overall odometer, and a clock. All of the unit's information is displayed in a three tier partition that, though it seems overwhelming when glimpsed in a catalog, quickly becomes second nature — decipherable at a glance. After a ride, the data you've collected can be uploaded to your choice of the proprietary CatEyeAtlas or the more universal Strava or Training Peaks databases, letting you parse and share your info for improvement and bragging rights.
