In between Castelli's comfort-focused Gisele and its race-optimized Body Paint, falls the Vizio Tre Women's Shorts. Essentially, Castelli design the Vizio Tre to balance comfort and efficiency with support and fit. All the while they're loaded with enough Castelli tech to confidently see you through any competition.

And, due to a recent refresh, the Vizio Tre provides even more ride enhancements than prior iterations, like the stretchy Affinity Lycra composition and the KISS3 Donna chamois. Starting at the bulk of the construction, the new, ultra-soft 210g Lycra of the Vizio Tre features enhanced moisture management properties that quickly draw perspiration away from the skin. And not only does this keep you cool and dry, but it also prevents the chafing and rashes that typically result from motion-induced friction.

As a result, Castelli promotes the Vizio as the ideal leg-wear for summer conditions ranging from 60 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. This builds on the Vizio's already stellar multi-panel cut, super-wide waistband, and GIRO3 leg grippers that discreetly provide the comfort and support to the leg muscles needed for combating fatigue. However, while the aforementioned would justify a 'job well done high five' for most designers, Castelli knows that shorts are nothing without the addition of a quality chamois. Rightfully, Castelli's KISS3 Donna completes the Vizio's cycling credibility.

The KISS3 Donna chamois' two-layer, multi-density foam is molded for functional, anatomic support and outstanding comfort. It features a micromesh, elastic surface for an appropriately cooling airflow, and it's also been treated to destroy harmful bacteria. Tying everything together is double-needle stitching that ensures that the insert's surface rests softly against the skin.

The Castelli Vizio Tre Women's Shorts are available in five sizes from X-Small to X-Large and in the colors Anthracite/white, Black, and Black/white.

Chamois bulky in front, bare behind

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Size Bought: Large

I agree with some of the other reviewers here. The chamois was too wide and bulky between my legs, making me feel like I was wearing a large sanitary napkin and half-waddling off the bike. On the bike, it felt wadded up and very uncomfortable. Farther back, it was not wide enough, not covering my sit bones. The seams were right under my bones where they meet the saddle. Potential for chafing here. Maybe they used the men's pattern here? Anyhow, the large was not right for this female, at 5'11", 155 lbs, with 40 inch hips.

Great bike shorts!!

    Good product at good value.

Agree Deborah! Love these! I size up to Large in all Castelli. I love the thin band around the leg, prevents that weird band buldge, and is comfortable for a long haul. The Donna Kiss is perhaps one of the best chamois's in the market and the waist design on these is quite feminine, a bit lower in the front, higher in the rear for extra coverage.

Good looks, good fit, good comfort

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Nice looking, well constructed. So far, they have proven to be comfortable for rides of up to 40 miles. Need to (carefully) test on longer rides. The waist band (an issue for some) is fine for me.

    Not for a muscular build

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I own one pair of Castelli shorts and like them. Wanted another pair. These ran incredibly small. Felt like I needed a large ( I'm usually a small). At 5'4" and 122 pounds, I thought these would fit. I didn't size up. Just going for my usual brand.

    Style Modifications Disappointed

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: large

The Vizio Tre is a very good chamois design, and I have no problem whatsoever with the quality. However Castelli modifies their styles from time to time. In the case of this short, the rise in the front (belly button area) was shortened from the Vizio Tre of a year ago or two. So what my wife really liked is no more in the Vizio Tre and we are returning them.

    Rockin' shorts

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs small

"As usual, Castelli runs SUPER small but I always order up. Purchased these in size medium and they work out great! Comfortable and the lime green detail is a favorite"

Too much chamois in all the wrong places

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

A friend and I bought these shorts on sale and both came to the same conclusions separately. We are quite disappointed. At first, they seemed very comfortable, but like some other reviews, the chamois would bunch too much in the lady parts and not enough coverage over the sit bones. It caused me to waddle and walk funny when I put them on (without even getting on a bike). I kept wearing them hoping each time they would "break in", but after my last 80 miler and 7k ft of climbing, these are going in the emergency only pile. OUCH!

I did like the rubber grips on the thigh and the fabric seemed fine. I usually love castelli gear and have quite a bunch, but these shorts did not meet the same standards as the other ones.

Got them on sale and am super impressed!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large

I've bought some Castelli's on sale before and they did not pan out to be the high dollar value of the original price. These definitely did. I love them. They fit perfectly snug to keep the chamois in place. I don't have any problems with the chamois, I actually love it, it's not too bulky. I have definitely had problems with others, even other Castelli's.
These are more of a race fit so size up...

    Chamois #FAIL

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XS

@Angelina Allen summed it up. I ordered a M vs. a SM- bc other reviewers claimed this product ran small. After a spicy 30+ mile ride w/ climbs I had some serious chafe + saddle soars thanks to this chamois. Thinking I got a size too big I exchanged the shorts for a SM. Rinse + repeat. The chamois shifted + bunched up again hurting my lady parts.

I do like the feel of the material (thin + smooth) + the color combo (lime + black) but sadly, they're not for me.

    Chamois doesn't cover seat bones.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL

The fit of these shorts seemed great. I took them on a ride and the chamois kept bunching up in the front and didn't cover my seat bones. I read that these shorts run small so I ordered up a size. Perhaps I should have got a large.

    Slim fit but very comfy

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

The leg grippers lay flat and doesn't cut in or bunch up, a huge plus for me. Chamois is padded enough on the bike but like the other review said, its a feels awkward when off the bike. Sizing is slim fit. I'm 110 pounds and wear a XS.

If you're used to the Vizio Due, size up

These are great shorts, but like other reviewers have noted, if you've previously worn the Vizio Due, the sizing is way off. I used to wear a S in the due and couldn't get the S Tre on-- Castelli may be the only company marketing clothes in the U.S. that is adjusting their sizes downward, but in this case, medium is the new small. I'm not super keen on the addition of the cursive logo in the Tre, but unlike the Due, all the logos on these shorts are sublimated, so they won't peel off anymore. The KISS 3 chamois does feel awkwardly thick when you're standing around, but it's great on the bike.

The Vizio Due was long my favorite short, and these are a pretty close match. At the $35 sale price, this is a smokin' deal.

Ill fitting and awkward cycling design

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs small

I was very excited to find these $120 shorts on sale for $36 but now I understand why there is such a sale. First, there is a large pad, which was so big it was awkward to walk in but even with that the front panel is cut so short there is only three and a half inches of material from the top of the pad to the top of the short. This is much shorter than I prefer. The top two inches of waist band around the short is a very flimsy elastic material that constantly slid and wrinkled and provided no stability walking in them let alone cycling in them. And then there is the material which was terribly see through! The white panel on the side left nothing to hide and my skin was very evident through the black material as well. Even my husband was shocked at how see through the material of the shorts, which are meant to be worn without underwear, was. I am 5'6" and 155 pounds and the large fit.

      Comfortable for Long Distance

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

I really like these shorts- they are probably the most padded that I own. I've used them for quite a bit of cycling with my indoor trainer, probably ~1 hour per day every day. I'm 150, got the large, and it works but I think a medium would have been OK too if I preferred a tighter fit.

      Fits like a racing short

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

I own a couple of pairs of Castelli shorts. These are a race-fit, meaning they are supposed to be a little tighter than the touring shorts. These are my "go-to" shorts for rides over 200K. I've ridden a couple of double centuries in these shorts, and my skin stays pristine. The tight fit keeps things from rubbing the wrong way.

      I could ride forever

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are by far the best shorts I own. I like them so much that not only did I buy two pair, I paid full that says a lot! The fit is perfect, very comfortable and everything stays in place. I would prefer a shorter inseam but just my personal preference - I'll take comfort over length any day. Great shorts

I currently have a M in the Vizio Due and...

I currently have a M in the Vizio Due and ordered a M in the Vizio Tre, but it seems that the new M is the size of a S. Am I the only one with this problem, or did I receive a mismarked pair? I really don't want to order a L, but I will if the shorts are running smaller than they used to because they are so awesome! Thanks for any help...

Castelli runs pretty race aggressive, so I could understand your confusion with sizing. But don't take it too much to heart. I'm Medium in most things, but certainly not with Castelli.

My friend has these and she wears a medium in Castelli (5 foot 6, 135 lb, 28 inch waist) and these shorts fit true to size for her.

I, however, am 5'4/5'5, 150 and I wear a large in this. 30 waist, but big hips and muscular quads.

I believe that you if you are a med in the Due but feel as though they are a little small you might want to consider sizing up. But if you feel comfortable enough in them, a med will work.

      I hope this is helpful.

I have also found the sizing to be small... I am usually a small, sometimes even x-small, and I couldn't even get these over my hips in a size small. I am 26"waist, 33"hip

I just received these shorts and when I tried them on, jumped online and ordered another!

The best feeling and fitting shorts I ever bought. I have a small frame- 5'4 and weigh 110. After reading the reviews I bought a size up in a medium -- usually wear a small and they fit great - Buy them!

Update... I finally ordered a L, and they fit like my old M. Glad I waited because I got 2 pairs for $21! I had a $50 birthday gift certificate! :) I'll update if the chamois is any different once spring arrives and I get back on the bike.

      disappointed in the fit

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs small

I love my Castelli Century shorts but the rise in the front is dramatically different from my other Castelli's. From the top of the chamois in the front, this short is 4" to the waist band. My favorite pairs measure 6" in the front. these are just too low waisted for me. Otherwise they seem very nice, just not for me.

      My favorite shorts

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are my absolute favorite pair of shorts. The material is incredibly comfortable and provides just the right amount of compression. The waist band is perfect and keeps the shorts in place without the slightest amount of digging in. And the Giro3 leg grippers are brilliant. I also find the Kiss3 chamois to be more comfortable than the ProgettoX2 Air used in the Principessa short (which are more expensive). I love these so much I bought a pair for my Mom for her birthday and she adores them just as much as I do. Definitely grab a pair, they'll be your favorite too! I'm 5'6" and 135lbs and the medium fits perfectly.

What is the inseam on the Vizio Tres...

What is the inseam on the Vizio Tres short?

      Here they are, in cm.:

      'XS' 75 cm

      'S' 76 cm

      'M' 77 cm

      'L' 78 cm

      'XL' 79 cm

      Hope this still helps!

My large shorts have a six inch inseam.
