Castelli set out to offer the best pair of mid-range, mid-priced bib shorts in the world when it created the Velocissimo Due Bib Shorts. Castelli succeeded so well, you'll probably find that the comfort level of these bibs will eclipse that of other brands' top-line kit.
Part of the genius behind these bibs is a cut that makes full use of the qualities of the special Affinity Lycra 210GR fabric. The Affinity Lycra is the secret weapon behind many of Castelli's most comfortable pieces because it has a wonderful stretch-return aspect that allows it to give when you need to, but then retake its shape once you are back in your habitual riding position. Essentially, it moves with you and doesn't fight or rub against you. That's because it has an amazingly soft and smooth texture with an attractive semi-matte finish. Using this fabric in a ten-panel construction means that the bibs will follow your contours so well that you won't even remember you have them on.
Where you will really be thankful that Castelli has taken some trouble to make these the best shorts possible is in the insert it has used. Castelli calls it the Kiss3 chamois, and you'll realize the name suits it as soon as you sit on the saddle. It is nearly as comfortable and advanced as their top-of-the-line Progetto X2, but costs considerably less. They have done this by using all of the same comfort features while saving slightly on the construction. What you'll get is the seamless skin care layer that is made from a super soft brushed microfiber to maximize the luxurious comfort and perfect fit. Since it is seamless, there will be no worries about chafing, while the flexibility of the material will help the pad move with you as you jump to an out-of-the-saddle assault. It has also been given a bacteriostatic treatment to avoid saddle sores and infections. The interior of the insert provides the ultimate in intelligent cushioning so that the maximum padding is placed in the ischial zone, tapering to a moderate thickness in the perineum and then narrowing still further at the perimeter of the pad. The anatomical shape will keep it nuzzled against your undercarriage through every pedal stroke.
Not to neglect the uppers of the bibs, Castelli has included their super-comfy and airy mesh bib straps. They will secure the bib itself in place without tugging, and the mesh keeps them from becoming oppressively hot on a humid, sunny day. The Giro3 integrated leg grippers have been fashioned so that the grip material is knit directly into the short. The generous 5 cm wide band will gently compress to secure the leg hem in place. It also lies completely flat, keeping your leg aero as if it were in a skinsuit. And for those evenings you get caught out after sunset, reflective bands at the back of the legs will help ensure that you'll make it home in one piece.
The Castelli Velocissimo Due Bib Shorts are available in three color options: Black/Cyan/White, Black/White/Red and Black/Black. They come in sizes Small through XXX-Large.
Matches perfectly with the rest of the Velocissimo Due kit, right down to the cap and gloves
cycling, racing, training
Note: Castelli has a "Euro" slimmer fit. We suggest ordering at least one size larger than your normal US size.
How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.

Well made and nice fitting, but bad riding. After an hour or so of riding the rough Texas roads outside of Dallas, I was numb. Needless to say but they went back. Not horrible on short rides, on smooth pavement but terrible on chip seal.
Let me first off say that I've owned bibs and shorts from nearly every maker- including other models of Castelli.
Without a doubt, these just sucked.
Why you ask? The stitching was terrible. After one long ride, the stitching started pulling and coming undone on the thighs. So, I returned them. Got another pair thinking that I'd received a bad pair. You guessed it- next pair, all of the stitching came undone one one thigh and started stretching and coming undone on the other.
I like Castelli, but they have really sacrificed quality on these.
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Only have 2 rides for 40 miles with these bibs, but they are great. Very comfortable chamois that isn't bulky, don't even notice it. I am 5'11" 125 lbs, was in between the medium and large, stuck with the large and they fit great. It is cut low in the front, but my jersey still keeps it covered. Liked them so much bought two more.
Overall, I like the fit and materials of this bib. More for warm weather. However, the K3 chamois density thins out in the nether regions so it gets a little uncomfortable after 50 miles. I'm 5'7", 150 lbs and got a L.
Overall I love these bibs. The fit is great and the grip bands on the legs stay where they're supposed to (on a cheap pair of shorts I have the fabric will start bunching up around the leg after a few miles).
The only problem I have with these is they could use a little more padding. As others have stated, they are cut pretty low up front and if you plan on riding 35+ miles, your going to be uncomfortable.
I would defiantly recommend these to a recreational rider but I can't say the same if your one of these guys who do 100 plus miles on the weekends.
First let me say that I love the look and the feel of these bib's, but after one 50 mile ride, I had so mant saddle sores that it took a week to heal. So I decided to use them for shorter rides, but had the same result after a 30 mile ride. I am really bumbed-out because per the other reviews I saw, I was hoping for so much more and now I hesitate to believe future reviews. Bottom line is they are hard on the bottom!
I gave it 4 stars because it's my first bib and I have no comparison to others. So far, I love it. I'm 5'7" about 145lbs and I wear a medium. Everything is comfortable with the padding in the seat area. What I'm not sure about is how there is minimal padding around the crotch area. It seems as the padding is more towards the rear. Not sure if this is correct, at first I was pulling the padding forward trying to get it more up front then after a couple of rides I just let it go and now don't notice it. I've used it on about 6 rides and there is some fray where the legs rub up against the seat. Not sure if it's from the beginning when I kept adjusting it forward... I have a second pair that I'm going to start using and we'll see if it gets the same wear marks.... Overall... Loving it, just hope they last me a decent while
Very satisfied with these bibs. Fit me very well and are incredibly comfortable on the saddle while still feeling very sleek. Much more padding that other similarly priced bibs and seem to be constructed quite well (time will tell). I'm 5'11" with a 32" waist and went with the mediums. Should note, as others did, the front is quite low and will probably show some mid-section when arms are raised or if your jersey is short. But I actually like the front because it doesn't feel like I'm wearing a diaper.
Took these on a 45 mile maiden voyage. Nice and ventilated compared to my other Castelli bibs. They are definitely an upgrade compared to the Nero Classic or the podium collections like the Duran. Love the elastic gripper on the leg as the traditional grippers can feel a bit weird. They are cut low in front as one reviewer indicated, but once on the bike they are a perfect fit. Sizing wise, pretty true to other Castelli products. I am 6'1" tall and about 180-185. An xl fits good, perhaps a little loose. To get that true race fit a L would have been plenty big.
I should have spoken to or chatted with a customer service rep before I bought these bibshorts. I am not a big guy...5'11" 180. (I guess for a cyclist I am big.) because I ordered the XL's based on the size chart and they were CRUSHINGLY tight. I utilized the return process (which is exceptionally easy) and got the XXL's. They fit much nicer. The straps are a little loose, but they still fit. Overall this is the most comfortable piece of cycling clothing I own. The legs stay in place, they are well vented, and the KISS chamois is outstanding. I have worn them on rides of 15 miles, 12 miles, and 30 miles and they felt wonderful. I would definitely recommend these shorts to anyone looking for a comfortable setup for their rides. Just make sure to size up before you order.
It was with sadness that I climbed back on to my feet yesterday after a fall; not from the blood on my leg, nor oncoming strawberry that I could feel forming on my left thigh. It was because my favorite pair of bibs now sported a dollar coin sized hole on the left side. These bibs are great. I had the 2010 version. The pad could be a little thicker, but overall the bibs fit well and felt like a second skin. I and 6'1" and 153lbs...I bought the mediums.
I purchased these a few days ago and haven't been able to test ride them.
"Dude, what are you reviewing them for?"
For now I want to comment on the quality, sizing and fit.
I bought the solid black ones in a large, which fit pretty well. I'm 5'10", 155lbs, with a 32-33" waist (depending on what I scarfed down that weekend) and can do the lawnmower on the dance floor.
They feel really nice, and appear to be of good qualty. The bib shorts formed to my body well, and are not tight like my Orca tri suit, and not loose like my MC Hammer pants. They are thin and I couldn't see wearing them unless it was in the upper 60's lower 70's or higher.
On the inside of the bibs there isn't anything that looks like it will scratch or rub my lower back while in the saddle. Also, there is a substantial amount of padding that will likely offer a really comfortable ride. Walking around in them isn't too bad, as I've had shorts that felt like I was rocking a man size diaper.
Overall I would say I really like them. I look forward to putting them on when the weather gets nice. For 130 dollars I think this is a great buy, especially when there are other bib shorts that go for much higher.
If I remember I will provide an update after I get a chance to ride in them.
I rode in these today and really liked them. They fit great on the ride and were really comfy. I was only able to do 30 minutes with them, but they seem like they'll be great for hours on the saddle.
