The champion of Cat 3.

Castelli set out to offer the best pair of mid-range, mid-priced bib shorts in the world when it created the Velocissimo Due Bib Shorts. Castelli succeeded so well, you'll probably find that the comfort level of these bibs will eclipse that of other brands' top-line kit.

Part of the genius behind these bibs is a cut that makes full use of the qualities of the special Affinity Lycra 210GR fabric. The Affinity Lycra is the secret weapon behind many of Castelli's most comfortable pieces because it has a wonderful stretch-return aspect that allows it to give when you need to, but then retake its shape once you are back in your habitual riding position. Essentially, it moves with you and doesn't fight or rub against you. That's because it has an amazingly soft and smooth texture with an attractive semi-matte finish. Using this fabric in a ten-panel construction means that the bibs will follow your contours so well that you won't even remember you have them on.

Where you will really be thankful that Castelli has taken some trouble to make these the best shorts possible is in the insert it has used. Castelli calls it the Kiss3 chamois, and you'll realize the name suits it as soon as you sit on the saddle. It is nearly as comfortable and advanced as their top-of-the-line Progetto X2, but costs considerably less. They have done this by using all of the same comfort features while saving slightly on the construction. What you'll get is the seamless skin care layer that is made from a super soft brushed microfiber to maximize the luxurious comfort and perfect fit. Since it is seamless, there will be no worries about chafing, while the flexibility of the material will help the pad move with you as you jump to an out-of-the-saddle assault. It has also been given a bacteriostatic treatment to avoid saddle sores and infections. The interior of the insert provides the ultimate in intelligent cushioning so that the maximum padding is placed in the ischial zone, tapering to a moderate thickness in the perineum and then narrowing still further at the perimeter of the pad. The anatomical shape will keep it nuzzled against your undercarriage through every pedal stroke.

Not to neglect the uppers of the bibs, Castelli has included their super-comfy and airy mesh bib straps. They will secure the bib itself in place without tugging, and the mesh keeps them from becoming oppressively hot on a humid, sunny day. The Giro3 integrated leg grippers have been fashioned so that the grip material is knit directly into the short. The generous 5 cm wide band will gently compress to secure the leg hem in place. It also lies completely flat, keeping your leg aero as if it were in a skinsuit. And for those evenings you get caught out after sunset, reflective bands at the back of the legs will help ensure that you'll make it home in one piece.

The Castelli Velocissimo Due Bib Shorts are available in three color options: Black/Cyan/White, Black/White/Red and Black/Black. They come in sizes Small through XXX-Large.

  • KISS3 chamois
  • Affinity Lycra fabric

It's what you expect from Castelli

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Height: 5' 6"

These bibs are my first choice now when choosing what to wear for comfort and style on my rides. I am more interested in comfort and aerodynamics vs style points, but the nice part about these is they have all three. Very clean cut design as always from Castelli. I am a smaller guy and these fit pretty true to size. Definitely a tighter fit but my body type fits these perfectly, I ordered a small.

No fade or unraveling of material on these bibs. I have put about 250 miles on these so they are still pretty fresh. All positive vibes so far.

Great bibs!!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Castelli bib is fantastic. The best riding clothes I've ever had. The chamois is a bit thin but does its job well. I'm 160 lbs and 5'9" and a large fits me great! The design is attractive and the colors are nice. Since buying these bibs I have purchased several Castelli jerseys and bibs. They're are more expensive but I love the fit and unique designs. I highly recommend Castelli. Just make sure you go up one size. I ride 150 miles a week and my Castelli clothes look like new. I hit a deep hole and fell. While my arm was badly gouged my Castelli bibs weren't damaged at all.

Good fit and comfort

Be aware that the sizing runs a tad small - the sizing is fine if you are on the slim end.

Great bib, runs small

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

I recently transitioned from shorts to bibs after a recommendation from my bike shop. At 5',7" 185 lbs I normally wear XL for a comfortable fit, but found I had to go to XXL for the Castelli bib. These fit great and provide great ride support. The chamois seems thin at first glance, but provides great comfort and doesn't bunch up like my previous shorts did. I have worn these for 20mile warm up rides and 100 milers covering 7 hours in the saddle with no issue.

Great Fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am 5'8" , 150 lbs. these fit great, I got the M size and they fit great, I have only use them for about a month now and on average 50+ miles. 150+ miles a weekly. Chamois could be a bit bigger, but there is enough padding. Working on getting a second pair :)

Good fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I was concerned about fit issues -- I'm 6'1", 155lbs and the Large fits perfectly. The straps are not too tight, the leg length and width is just right. Not really worth it at full retail, but kudos to CC for putting these on sale.

Sizing issues

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

I have a pair of Castelli Podium Bibs, size XL, and they have worked great for a few years now, but alas, it's time for new bibs. I bought of pair of the Velocissimo bibs, size XL, and the straps are so short that they give a severe case of man camel toe. So I ordered a pair of XXL and the straps are still too short. I'm 6'5", 190 lbs. I also ordered a pair of Castelli Endurance bibs, XXL, and the Free Aero Race, size XXL. The Free Aero race bibs are the only ones that the straps feel manageable, but I'm not sure if I like that much white on them in the front.

real good bibs

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Height: 6' 2"

    Size Purchased: extra large

typicial Castelli fit, so they run a little small. I'm 6'2", 195 lbs with a 35" waist, so went with the XL and they fit just right.

used them once so far, and they appear very comfortable and move well with you while riding. The chamois is not up to the standard of my free Aero's, but still good.

the side panels include some mesh, which helps with ventilation, but I'll have to see if sunscreen is required when the sun gets higher in AZ!

Nice (slim) fit but firm in the seat

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Quality is reasonably good. Kiss3 Chamois is not generous. If you don't have a good position, you could get damned uncomfortable after 90min or more. Good in hot weather. Launder well. Slim fit means they don't shift around during your ride.

Didn't live up to the hype

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Well made and nice fitting, but bad riding. After an hour or so of riding the rough Texas roads outside of Dallas, I was numb. Needless to say but they went back. Not horrible on short rides, on smooth pavement but terrible on chip seal.

Responded on

Hi Joel,
If you're experiencing numbness while riding the problem is not the padding, it's your bike fit. You may be using a saddle that is too narrow and/or not angled properly to support your ischial tuberosities (sit bones). Get yourself to a certified fitter quick!

Blech. Worst bibs I've owned

Let me first off say that I've owned bibs and shorts from nearly every maker- including other models of Castelli.

Without a doubt, these just sucked.

Why you ask? The stitching was terrible. After one long ride, the stitching started pulling and coming undone on the thighs. So, I returned them. Got another pair thinking that I'd received a bad pair. You guessed it- next pair, all of the stitching came undone one one thigh and started stretching and coming undone on the other.

I like Castelli, but they have really sacrificed quality on these.

Great bibs

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Only have 2 rides for 40 miles with these bibs, but they are great. Very comfortable chamois that isn't bulky, don't even notice it. I am 5'11" 125 lbs, was in between the medium and large, stuck with the large and they fit great. It is cut low in the front, but my jersey still keeps it covered. Liked them so much bought two more.

Chamois can be better

Overall, I like the fit and materials of this bib. More for warm weather. However, the K3 chamois density thins out in the nether regions so it gets a little uncomfortable after 50 miles. I'm 5'7", 150 lbs and got a L.

4 5

Good, but some room for improvement.

Overall I love these bibs. The fit is great and the grip bands on the legs stay where they're supposed to (on a cheap pair of shorts I have the fabric will start bunching up around the leg after a few miles).

The only problem I have with these is they could use a little more padding. As others have stated, they are cut pretty low up front and if you plan on riding 35+ miles, your going to be uncomfortable.

I would defiantly recommend these to a recreational rider but I can't say the same if your one of these guys who do 100 plus miles on the weekends.

hard on the bottom

First let me say that I love the look and the feel of these bib's, but after one 50 mile ride, I had so mant saddle sores that it took a week to heal. So I decided to use them for shorter rides, but had the same result after a 30 mile ride. I am really bumbed-out because per the other reviews I saw, I was hoping for so much more and now I hesitate to believe future reviews. Bottom line is they are hard on the bottom!

Great pair of bibs

Love these pair. bought them based on good reviews. they are very comfortable, support is adequate and hardly bunch up the leg. bought XL, 6', 182lb, 32w.
