Jerseys over jackets

Like the Kung Fu masters harness the power of two blows into one, Castelli harnessed the power of a jacket into a jersey. The Trasparente Due Wind Long Sleeve Jersey is just as strong as wind jacket, but just as comfortable as your favorite summer-weight jersey. Combining lightweight, patented materials with an anatomic, cycling-specific fit, the Trasparente Due fights the wind and keeps you warm through the shoulder seasons.

Castelli's Trasparente Due Wind jersey is made from both the patented WindStopper X-Lite Plus and Warmer fabrics. As their names suggest, the materials work in concert to insulate and block wind. To shield you from the winter chills where they actually occur, Castelli placed the WindStopper material on the front of the jersey, or as Castelli refers to it, its lightest wind jacket ever. The front is 100% windproof, so you don't have to worry about rogue breezes blowing through the jersey. This, in tandem with the Warmer material on the back, provides a consistent internal temperature. Sure, the jersey is warm, but you don't need to worry about overheating or drowning in your own sweat. Both of the materials are highly breathable and possess excellent moisture transferring properties.

Should you need to dump heat on-the-fly, Castelli included a full-length, camlock zipper on the front of the jersey. And to secure the overall fit of the Trasparente, a multi-panel design has been incorporated with the added assistance of an elastic gripper at waist. Castelli also included three rear pockets and Napoleon zip-pocket to stow your ride essentials, and reflective accents have been placed throughout the jacket for heightened visibility in low-light conditions.

The Castelli Trasparente Due Wind Long Sleeve Jersey is available in six sizes from Small to XXX-Large and in the colors Anthracite/black/yellow fluorescent, Black, Red/black/white, and White/black/cyan.

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

Great cool weather gear

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use these mostly when the temps dip into the high 40's. They have protection against the wind but not so much to make one feel like their in a sauna! I have tried other brands such as Castrelli and felt like some one poured a cup of water onto hot stones. I whole-heartedly recommend Pearl Izumi. Their products I have learned to buy without question to quality!

Buy one!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

took this jacket out on an epic 70 mile ride yesterday. Forgot I was wearing it, so comfortable! Temps ranged from 37-43 and I only wore a summer short sleeve mesh jersey and it was perfect. The front is like a vest and you get no chill. My arms were a little brisk at first but once i warmed up in 10 min I was glad they were so thin. Climbs were great too with the arms letting you vent some heat. Unbelievable given that this is jersey thin. Ultra comfortable as well. Considering getting another. Sizing is typical Castelli. I'm 5'11" and 160lbs. I'm a medium in jerseys and a L in bibs and anything with long sleeves. This is no different large all the way. Same fit as the awesome gabba.

Great jersey

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Best winter jersey I own. Very light, stylish, and more importantly keeps me warm with a long sleeve baselayer down 45 degs and to 35 degs w/ additional light jersey. Worth every penny!
I'm 5'10.5'', 165lbs and I got the L which is between club and loose fit.

Versatile jersey...

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Winter weight at 200ish lbs, the XXL fits great with enough room for a thick winter base layer. Tested it with a Specialized thin base layer on a 2 hour 35 degree road and was a tad chilly but still worked great. Extremely satisfied with it, looks great and seems to be pretty versatile.

Cool Long Sleeve Addition

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

180lbs 6'1" Xl is good to go. The fit is not strangling, which allows you to toss a base layer underneath and wear it in even colder temps. The zipper construction is solid and it has a nice breast pocket for some lip goo and a debit card. Windstopper fabric is nice and light and keeps the chill off the chest. I will sometimes wear this in lieu of a jacket if I know it will be dry. Very comfortable and stylish thermal jersey from Castelli. Definite keeper.

Listen I like the price.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

Less than you think is wearing the same clothes ... still completely tight to talman the bike will be well. Other price and so like the design.

Great top - maybe size up though

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I am 6' and 170 pounds. I ordered a large and it fits perfectly over a tight/race cut jersey. I usually wear a Castelli medium jersey (I prefer a tight fit). So you may want to size up as a Medium with anything beneath it would probably be too tight for this item. Went for a ride up the mountains last weekend with this on - a bit hot going up the hill, of course, but I was perfectly warm during the cooler descents. One of my favorite perks of this top is the pockets - they are big and deep but not ugly or obtrusive. I fit an apple, spare tube/kite, phone, two bars in back pockets and could barely feel them on my ride. I would be comfortably wearing this item from mid 30s to about 60 (Oct through late March in Virginia, need more during Jan/Feb probably).

As with all Castelli items, looks great too!

Great Jersey!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Have had the chance to use this several times in late winter/early spring conditions. I ride near the ocean so while the temps have been 40-45, the cold, damp wind can be a factor. It is really performing well. Fights the wind as promised. Keeps me warm but doesn't bake. Not heavy and the fit is excellent. I'm 6'' 165 lbs and always buy an XL in Castelli. I can put a layer or two underneath and the fit is snug but not binding. Got the blue and it looks great!

nice as a jacket or underlayer

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

This was a good score. I went with an XL to give room underneath for layering and to make sure the sleeves are long enough for me - 6'1" and 180 lbs with long arms.

This piece is great with just a jersey or base layer in the 45+ degree range. It has worked well with a wool jersey underneath for temps between 35 - 45. And under a thicker jacket for those really cold days.

The only minor gripes are that the pockets sag a bit, so heavy items can feel like they are swaying when you ride aggressively. Also could use a bit more color and reflective on the back to help getting the driver's attention.

it is ok

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

i own a lot of Castelli LS jerseys/jackets all in Large however had to keep this one in XL. Body is a bit looser than i would like and neck is right on the edge of being too tight! I also own Castelli Gabba Convertible in Large which is perfect fit...if you want something similar but better go Gabba LS or Convertible hands down....Tranparante is just ok and am not sure i would buy another one....also, wind protection not running full length on arms is almost deal breaker for me ......i still give it 4 stars because it is Rosso Corsa (feel of material is nice) 5 stars because neck tightness and lack of windstopper on lower half of arms....overall fit is NOT spot on like my other Castelli gear in size specs are 6'1" 170lbs athletic lean build.....don't get me wrong, this is nice jersey but the fit is a little off.....i wear this under Gabba or soft-shell and it works brilliantly as mid or base layer for cold weather

Very Nice Jersey

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Looks like this may become my go to coupled with a light baselayer for rides from 35degrees and up. very impressed. Initially it looks to light but the wind proofing on the chest is perfect with a baselayer, easy to unzipp and dump a little heat if needed.

Probably my favorite cold weather jersey

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is one of the best jerseys I think I've ever ridden in. Castelli has an impeccable fit that is perfect for me at 5'7", 130lbs (size small). The one gripe I have is that the sleeves aren't windproof, I think it was already mentioned in a previous article, but make sure you have an LS baselayer with warm sleeves on too if it's below the high thirties. I've ridden into the low forties and aside from moderately cold arms, my upper body has remained warm and, more importantly, dry. I've also been caught out in the teens and stuffed some scavenged newspaper in (shout out to my LBS) and been just fine, thanks to the wind blocking properties of the front.

My only worry is the longevity of the zipper, which seems a little frail, but I believe that the pros of this jersey outweigh a small con.

Best piece of cold weather gear ever.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This jersey is a perfect for anywhere from 40 deg to 65 deg. Great slim fit (no flapping in the wind) and keeps you comfortable on chilly days. My go to piece of clothing in for all cold weather rides.

5 5

Just buy it

Part of Castelli's "rosso corsa" top-of-the-line, this is one of the very BEST items that Castelli makes (and that is saying something). Can I give it 6 stars? Also, it looks insanely awesome in all black. Matches perfectly with Castelli's "lightness" full finger gloves in black.

Application: Long-sleeve jersey for riding in coolish weather: 45-65* (depending upon your base layer selection).

PROS: A lot of attention to detail here. The big zipper gripper works well with gloved hands. And the Gore "Windstopper X-Light" fabric works great and doesn't flap in the wind. And yes! -thank you "Lam" below- the front pocket zipper can be used for cooling.

CONS: None. Other than take care with the pocket/chest zipper. It's a little delicate.

FIT: I found that this specific item runs 1/2 size small even for Castelli tops. Anyway, size up one or two sizes -per usual with Castelli- depending upon your BMI. I'm 5'10 185, the XXL fits perfect.

Buy this!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Absolutely the best piece of cool weather gear you will ever own, if you ride in temperatures from 60 down to 25 degrees. Great high collar, wind-proof body, good zippers and pockets. Just layer as it gets colder, unzip if you get too warm. As with most Castelli buy a size larger. Get 2 for yourself and some for your riding friends. Especially on sale, I love this product.

3 5

Mostly Windproof

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The sleeves are not windproof, so expect cold arms, which make it difficult to keep hands warm. Jersey is typical of Castelli in fit, finish and style. It's a nice piece, it's just not fully windproof in front.

5 5

Good quality and really useful

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

great quality jersey, use it with a base layer and you can ride in many weather conditions.
Size is a little small, I'm 6'1 and 200lb and 41in chest, XL is like a large but is "slim fit", so if you are not a "slim fit guy" ( like me) then you should get one size more. it is short in front but It works for your bike position, I would prefer and XXL but I needed to use it today so I did and I don't regret.

5 5

Typical Castelli quality and sizing

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I am 6'1/2" and 162 lbs. and find the XL quite comfortable without being overly restrictive, or baggy. However, preference in this respect, depends on whether you lean to "race" or "club" fit.
I did find the discussion about "Hiviz" concerning this product amusing. One person's comment about Hiviz being a "religion" rings true, to some extent. However, after almost turning my car into a cyclist wearing all black, on a black bike, with an asphalt background, I've become more of a true believer!
Agree completely with the use of USB rechargeable lighting, like the Thunderbolt, even in the daytime! You are safer, and cars WILL give you a wider berth. In any case this jersey probably has enough color variation (and white) to be in the "safe" category, by my standards. Don't believe me? Have someone take two articles of clothing about a block away, one white and one black, look away slightly and have them wave each. Now, which is easier to see in your peripheral vision? Bottom line, whatever makes you comfortable out there, do it.

5 5

Blocks wind & water resistant

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

Highly visible colors, and great fit make this full zip jersey a great shoulder pick. Great between 40 and 65 degrees, just alter your base layer accordingly. I purchased a large size . I am 5'7 165 lbs with a 40 inch chest. Front has a wind stopping material, and back a different fabric that breathes well. Get any color while it's on sale. You'll be glad you did.

5 5

My favorite winter jersey!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've using this jersey with a light weight base layer in the 40's degree F and it just feels great and toasty the whole ride. Prior to this, my other jerseys are not warm enough and my jackets are a bit heavier and bulkier than I wanted. This jersey is just perfect for 40-60F range. It's light weight, windproof front and very breathable back as the description. High quality materials, in fact the windproof material is so silky smooth that I feel sliding through the wind with little drag. I don't know if people noticed, but the front pocket is a very neat design because Castelli uses mesh material inside, so I use it as a mini vent when climbing. The combination of colors is great, so no mater which color you choose, you're always visible. I am 5'8" 150lbs and the M fits nicely. The only minor dislike is the big red advertising Castelli waist band in the back.
