Ankle zippers on Castelli's Thermoflex Leg Warmers prevent stretch-outs and pre-bike sweats.

Castelli made the Thermoflex Leg Warmers with ankle zippers, so you won't break into a sweat just trying to pull these fleece warmers on. The zippers also help the Thermoflex Leg Warmers maintain their shape. Stretchy, soft fleece warms your legs, while the elastic cuffs keep these Castelli warmers from migrating south.

Viable more flexible alternative to bibs

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 6' 3"
    Weight: 182 lbs
    Size Purchased: XL

For Castelli , these are a rather non-descript "stealth" look, but still sleek. Not much more decoration than the single scorpion over the calf on each leg. (Decal so will likely peel off over time as ok Caselli kit that use decal logos). That's OK because they won't clash colors with your bib shorts. Thermoflex is fleecy on the inside but still manages to vent enough excess heat and moisture so they don't become damp. The legs are held up by compression and silicone leg grippers which succeed at keeping the legs from slipping bunching chafing. They are warm yet thin enough to fit under closely tailored shorts without creating bands or stretching the legs on the shorts. The zippers at the bottom make it easier to remove the warmers at home or mid ride. I'm happy with these so far.

These are Casrelli (race fit) which means take your every day real world size go up at least 1 and maybe 2 sizes.

My husband loves them

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got these for my husband. He's 6' 150 lbs. and the medium fits him perfectly. He loves them and wears them even when I think it isn't cold enough! And they look *great*.

Not bad for the $$$$

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I got a good end of season deal on these and used them in a Duathlon relay. Overall they worked great. One thing that I have noticed on Castelli stuff lately is that the logo starts to crack and peel off. Hate that. However the performance is still good. I have big legs and I used a XL. Fit was great.

Responded on

The logo peeling problem has been an issue for several years now. As a matter of company pride you would think they would if only to make the brand look better. I have read that they were the first to use sublimated graphics on cycling kit. They should look into alternatives that are more durable than decals.

I've never bought a pair of warmers before....

I've never bought a pair of warmers before. If I normally wear a large in castelli shorts, would the size correspond? Thanks!

Responded on

They would probably fit, but if you are really tall or have enormous legs you may need to go with XL which are a good "race fit" size for taller bigger guys. I'm 6'3" 182lbs and although sometimes I'm a large in bib shorts and other times an XL, for these I got XL and they seem about right. L might have worked but could have been quite skimpy. I think sizing matches their chart -- at least for the XL pair judging from how it fits me.

Meets my needs

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Debated between the Thermoflex and Nanoflex leg warmers and went with the Thermos. First on size I went with XL which is the same size I wear in Castelli bibshorts, tights, and jerseys. I am 6'4" and 190 lbs. I have a 34" inseam and the warmers are perfect in length. I have used these in 40 - 58 degree rides and they have provided the warmth I've needed. I have 1 pair of tights and 1 pair of knickers. So the leg warmers give me another option on colder days.

The warmers have grippers on the inside of the top and I did not experience any slippage. I would highly recommend these for someone searching for leg warmers. In conclusion they are comfy and I don't notice them when riding.

Works well

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The leg warmers work well. I also brought the knicks, but i find myself wearing bibs and these leg warmers now, as they do the job, maybe a little better

do they come in pairs?

do they come in pairs?

Do not buy

These were delivered with a tear in one of the seems. Third time out and another tear develops.

Never had problems like this with any other brand before.

Wish they would have fit

These seem like they would have been great warmer. Unfortunately the large was just a little too tight. With no extra large available I went to the Castelli Nano instead.

nice fit

I was hesitant to buy these leg warmers because of the previous review, but I tried on some Castelli leg warmers a year ago, and they were the most comfortable, form fitting thing I've ever put on my legs. I bought these leg warmers hoping they were the same ones that I tried on before. They were. They are incredibly comfortable, and they look smart. I've only worn them once, but the stitching is fine.If the stitching comes unraveled, I'll post an update. Because you can return them at any time, no questions asked, I will if the stitching doesn't last.

Nice, but stitching unravels

These kept me nice and warm, but the stitching is not bomber. The stitching on 2 pairs has come undone. Once after one ride and the other time out of the bag.
