One of the troubling apects of most winter cycling gloves is that they have more bulk than a high-fiber diet. As a result, riding a bike is about the last thing that seems they were designed for. Castelli's Super Nano Gloves are a welcome exception. These ultra-light gloves are part of Castelli's Rosso Corsa series of products that receive Castelli's very best in materials and design.

Because the Super Nano Gloves must be used to shift and brake any and every control lever out there, one of their strongest features is the Pittards leather palm. Lightweight and flexible, the leather allows you to tell one click from two and one lever from another. The back of the gloves employ windproof Stratolight fabric, a material exclusive to Castelli, that does wonders towards keeping your hands warm. The wrist closure is a simple, elasticized band that's easy to stretch for pulling the gloves on or off. When temperatures dip into the 40s, your hands will thank you.

The Castelli Super Nano Gloves come in two colors -- Black/black and White/black. They're available in five sizes from Small through XX-Large.

Tight fit

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

These gloves are a bugger to get on, but once there they fit incredibly well and have great "feel". Take time in working the cuff over your hand as other reviews have mentioned and you will be rewarded. I haven't got to test out the bottom of the temp range yet but my hands were warm on a 1 hr. Ride in 50f degree weather with some gusty winds not that my hands felt the gusts even in the evening shadows.

I've now ridden with these gloves a total of four times and the seam on the outside edge of my pinkie finger has split, thoroughly disappointed because I really like them they have been warm in the upper 30's on my morning commute and comfortable on my way home with temps in the 50's. I'll return them and try again.

Great fit+feel but not for gorilla hands

Just received this and it did not disappoint. Great lightweight full finger glove for temps above freezing. The reviews are spot on. I'm 5'9" 145lbs and the Med. is a tight fit especially around the cuff. It takes some massaging to get them on and off, but once on they fit superb and are as snug as gloves can come. Leave some extra time to put these guys on and don't take them off mid ride while your hands are sweaty otherwise you will have a very hard time getting them back on.

    Yes, size up!

Application: Winter gloves for riding between 40-55*

PROS: (1) The thin and flexible (yet warm) materials provide awesome grip and bar feel. (2) Real Pittards leather palm. (3) Soft microfiber sweat wipe on top of thumb. --These are great gloves.--

CONS: None, other than they are little hard to remove after a hard/sweaty ride.

Fit. Size-up one! I'm 5'10". I buy size L in Pearl Izumi gloves. But I definitely need XL gloves with Castelli gloves.

Note: If you need gloves for riding in colder, consistently 30-45* weather, I can recommend Castelli's excellent "Chiro Due" gloves.

      Great gloves! Size up!

      • Familiarity:I've used it several times
      • Fit:Runs small

I wear a small/ medium in short finger castelli gloves and originally ordered small but had to ultimately get mediums. They are a bit tight to get in and off but contour closely to the hand as the trade off. I've worn them down to around 45 degrees and feel that although they are not quite as warm as bulkier options , id much rather have the dexterity and road feel. The pittards palms are great and not padded which i prefer.

How does the gloves hold up in the rain? Looking at these or the Diluvio's for rainy early spring races. Not sure which would better. Any feedback/guidance to offer.

They will soak through quickly. Definitely not made for the rain.

Do these gloves have padding on the palm?

      Best Answer

No, they are a Pittards leather across the entire palm. What is your intended riding style? I've been using them for cyclocross and some mountain biking with no complaints whatsoever.

Purely for road riding in slightly above freezing temps.

      Good Touch

      • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I can almost use these gloves on a keyboard. If you want to maintain some tactile function in cold weather these are great. They don't work so well under 20 degrees, but they excel above the competition during rainy weather. I prefer the snug fit, but many people might find them sized small. I'm on my second pair now only because I lost a glove from my pocket.

      Cool weather cycling

      • Gender:Male
      • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I usually have warm hands. I ski in winter cold weather with spring gloves so I thought these gloves would serve me well. One key item that I liked was the Pittard leather palm which to me is the best material for wear, grip and abraision resistance. Many of the reviews on these gloves have been related to the sizing. I measured my hands per the Castelli sizing chart with my hand size at 24.5 cm so I ordered an XL. When I received the gloves and tried them on they are a challenge to get on due to the tight cuff. Once they are on the hand the sizing is perfect. It appears that the cuff is tight so that it will help the glove seal in heat to keep your hands warm.

      Smooth As

      • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Great gloves, I've used them at 30 - 40 and they work well. I don't normally wear gloves as I like to feel the road, but these gloves keep you warm and you don't feel your wearing them.

I had originally bought these gloves thinking they would be for my Idaho winter rides. Well, they are good to about 40-degrees. I ended up with the Capo Limited Editions, which are good from 15-degrees to the 30s. However, the Super Nanos are sublime. They proove that a tight-fitting leather glove can be more comfortable than one with googleplex of pads. The fit perfectly, but be sure to buy them one size bigger than your size because the Italians have teeny little hands.
These are the best, most comfortable gloves I have ever had, or tried on.

        Awesome gloves

I like these gloves for the exact reasons the previous poster didn't like them. For an ordinary cool day (45-65F), these gloves will do the trick without sweating up your palms and imobilizing your fingers. They do run small, imo, but as a woman with narrow-ish palms and long fingers, this glove is a perfect fit! The fabric is simply superior to every other winter glove I've tried on. It's very light and flexible, yet still soft and warm. I didn't realize how terrible my other gloves were until I bought these. I just assumed that stiff, bulky ill-fitting fingered gloves were a fact of winter cycling life. Apparently, that is not the case. Last year's winter gloves just got the boot. These are awesome. Fwiw, my palm across the knuckles is 7" and the small fits perfectly.

          castelli super nano gloves

these gloves are sized too small and are not that warm. I normally wear x-large in euro sizes but these are very tight and hard to get on and off. luckily, they do fit my wife,so now she has them.
