Description

Warmth and comfort with a women's fit

As the seasons change, winter ushers in cold temperatures and shorter days. Get the most out of winter by staying protected in the Castelli Sorpasso Women's Tights. As Castelli's top tier women's tight, the Sorpasso features the ideal balance between warmth and anatomic fit.

Made with Castelli's best technologies, the Sorpasso Tights are the ideal all day, cold weather tights. Cut into a woman specific design, the Sorpasso uses a graduated, soft, and non-restricting Thermoflex waist band for extra warmth and comfort around your mid-section. In the tights, panels of Thermoflex stretch to move with you like your summer riding shorts, but with the benefit of giving you cold weather protection. The fleecy inner-lining traps warm air next to your skin to insure you don't chill. Thermoflex Core Due runs along the front of the tights where you're the most susceptible to cold. Utilizing the same stretchy protection as Thermoflex, Core Due has the added benefit of keeping you dry in wet conditions. And regardless of weather conditions, it consistently wicks moisture away from the skin, pushing it to the quick-drying surface of the tights.

Though the warmth of the tights is their stand out feature, Castelli's top of the line Progetto X2 Air chamois is what will keep you wanting to wear the Sorpasso for every ride. The top-layer is comprised of a four-way stretch material that's made to move with you as you ride. And to inhibit bacterial growth, it also has bacteriostatic and microdenier characteristics. A multi-density foam mid-layer, with variable thickness, places padding where you need it most. The bottom viscous layer sits under the ishial and perineal area for added ventilation in these high pressure regions. Combined, these layers work together to keep you riding comfortably on long days in the saddle.

Camlock ankle zippers hold the tights close to your legs so they don't sneak up. The Camlock zippers also let you quickly ventilate by flicking the zipper up and pulling on the fabric. Giro Ankle grippers have also been added to seal around shoecovers, preventing any gap in coverage.

The Castelli Sorpasso Women's Tights are available in five sizes from X-Small to X-Large and in the colors Black/white, Black, and Anthracite/white.

Best tight for mild-moderate winter

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

So good I bought two pair! Fit is awesome, weather proofing is solid, chamois is super comfy and the red fleece lining adds some cool flair that can be ever so slightly seen through the exterior. Love them. I found them to be cold in temps below 25F.

Don't pull on the tag!

I wanted to preliminarily write a review on these tights to warn anyone buying them that they have a very large tag inserted just like the ones on pillows except this tag should NOT be ripped off like a pillow tag. It will literally pull the seam apart. Yes, I asked hubby to do it for me and voila - they are at the seamstress getting sown up. This happened the first day I planned on wearing them. I am actually looking forward to the extra large padding and yes, it is pretty large. If you don't like that then these may not be your style. I will update my review when I get to wear them. The low stars are for the manufacturers to do something about that ginormous label and cutting it off close to the seam will still chafe those of us who have a butt albeit a small one!

Agree about the chamois -- too big

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I tried on 4 different tights before I found ones that fit well and were going to keep me warm enough. The Pearl Izumi ones I tried felt weird. Yes, the chamois is too big, but when I'm on the bike it doesn't matter. They keep me warm.

Really big chamois

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I read the review about the big chamois, but decided to try them anyone. The chamoi was big everywhere--front, back, and in the middle. No way was it going to hit any pressure spots. I ordered a small. I'm 5'4", 120 lbs.

Wide Sorpasso Sea

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Holy moley, the chamois in these tights was HUGE. Don't know if I had an off-pair, but ended up sending these back. Went with the Tenerissimo instead (which aren't water resistant).

Clever title, (instead of Sargasso Sea), same difference! Thanks for the review!
