Castelli Skratch Labs Kit $0.00
The Castelli Skratch Labs Kit brings the clothing manufacturer's top designs together in the form of a race-ready, Skratch-graphic package. Both the jersey and bibs feature Castelli's best fabrics and streamlined cut to keep you comfortable, dry, and looking sharp while logging miles this season.
Castelli constructed the Team jersey from its proprietary Prosecco Strada fabric. This material was selected for its controlled stretch, light weight, breathability, and all-encompassing comfort. Going in order of operations, the controlled stretch of the fabric creates a supportive fit that dampens the effect of road vibration and oscillation in order to minimize muscle fatigue. Additionally, it permits Castelli to optimize the shape of the jersey for the perfect cycling fit.
Secondly, Prosecco Strada features a lightweight composition that feels airy on the skin while remaining highly breathable. This has been furthered through the incorporation of subtly placed mesh side panels. So, you don't have to worry about overheating during long, exhaustive efforts in the saddle. However, no matter how good the material, sweat is inevitable. That's why Castelli also gave the jersey its patented Prosecco treatment. This process is a topical, hydrophilic treatment that spreads moisture out over a larger surface area for rapid evaporation. Ultimately, it keeps you cooler and drier over your race or ride.
Adding to the fit, the Team jersey has been cut to a race style. This means the seams are shaped to the body while it's in the cycling position, and the jersey incorporates what Castelli calls set-in sleeves. The seams have been shifted to allow the sleeves to be inset in order to match the position of forward reach to the bars. By doing this, Castelli eliminates unwanted bunching, pulling, and the abrasion that comes as a result. In addition to comfort, Castelli gave the Team jersey a full-length front zipper, as well as ample storage for your ride essentials with three rear cargo pockets.
Moving to the Skratch Labs Bib Shorts, Castelli based its design on its Free Aero Race platform. The resulting shorts are the culmination of several years' worth of fabric refinements and fit updates, making them more comfortable and supportive than ever.
The effectiveness of the Skratch bib shorts comes from the targeted use of three main fabrics. First, Castelli developed what they call an Action Micro fabric that is particularly durable and placed it in the saddle contact regions, since those are the areas that get the most regular wear and tear. Energia Micro fabric is used on the sides and back of the bib shorts to take advantage of its outstanding stretch and return. The Breathe Micro fabric is used for the front of the shorts because, as its name indicates, it has been designed to let the fabric breathe to help keep the legs from overheating when the sun is beating down on a hot day.
Perhaps nothing in these bib shorts has benefited as much from Castelli's association with professional cycling teams as the Progetto X2 Air Seat Pad. Team Garmin spent a year testing this short—that's a lot of saddle time to be thinking about how comfort could be improved. Since Castelli had it pretty right to begin with, there wasn't much more than tweaking going on. What it has done is add a perforated foam layer to the pad to help ventilate and keep the nether regions cooler by allowing air to flow directly onto the surface fabric. That layer sitting next to your skin is made from a four-way stretch, seamless, bacteriostatic layer designed to move with you, reducing any bunching and friction. The cushioning layer consists of strategically placed, multi-density foam. For good measure, perforated viscous comfort inserts have been added under the highly sensitive ischial and perineal pressure areas so that your undercarriage will be supremely protected whether you are out on a two-hour weekday jaunt or training over cobbles for Roubaix.
Castelli has taken great care in making sure that these will be bib shorts that will never feel stifling on a midsummer's day. Keeping your chest free from unnecessary fabric is priority, so you'll notice that the shape of the bib straps allow for a very wide opening on the front torso that dips down to the waist. You won't feel hindered by the straps and you'll really appreciate the open-air feeling on hot climbs up mountains in July. Knowing how irritating inner thigh seams can be, Castelli has eliminated them from this bib. And what seams there are have been properly sewn so as to be as unobtrusive.
Castelli upgraded the hems of the legs by including its Giro3 integrated leg grippers, which feature grip material knit directly into the short. The generous 5cm-wide bands will gently compress to secure the leg hems in place. They also lies completely flat, keeping your legs aero as if they were in a skin suit. As a final touch, Castelli included highly reflective details on the back of the grippers for extra safety.
The Castelli Skratch Labs Kit is available in six sizes from Small to XXX-Large and in the Skratch Labs Black colorway.

What's the "free" gift with purchase, and does this "free" gift explain why the jersey+knicks combo is about 20% more expensive than buying each piece separately ($350 vs $192+$99)?
Sorry! No free gift the kit is sold out. The kit should have been around $290.00 for the set. $98.95 for the jersey, and $192.00 for the bibs. Thanks
