Castelli Sella Rain Jacket $199.95
Rain is not an excuse to stay home.
Bitter and rainy conditions seem like the perfect excuse to stay inside. However, Castelli knows that something inside of you still feels the need to ride. Its Sella Rain Jacket ensures that the weather is never an excuse for not riding outdoors. After all, who wants to spend all winter on an indoor trainer?
First, it should be noted that the Sella jacket is not a stowable rain cover — it's an actual jacket. Therefore, it's best worn for rides when you won't need to take it off and store it. Castelli constructed it from its Torrent three-layer laminate. This material is completely waterproof, wind-resistant, and highly breathable. And, while we're typically hesitant to support claims of waterproof, with a water column rating of 10,000mm, and fully-taped seams, the Torrent fabric has our vote of confidence. Additionally, all of the seams of the Sella were taped, the fleece-lined collar flips up, the full-length zipper is also waterproof. Additionally, it includes a rain flap and a zipper garage. In other words, nothing is getting into this jacket.
Now, there is nothing worse then that feeling of cold air on sweaty skin in the dead of winter. So, to regulate your core temperature, layers need to breath so that moisture is able to be wicked away from your skin and evaporated. And even though the Torrent fabric is breathable, Castelli placed two large, zippered ventilation ports at the underarms of the jacket in order to increase airflow and cooling when your body is working hard.
Just as importantly, Castelli knows that weather protection is a moot point if your jacket fits like a garbage bag. Accordingly, one of the added features of the Torrent fabric is its ability to stretch. As a result, the Sella Rain combines a hard-shell level of protection with the feel and freedom of movement of a softshell jacket. It's patterned to mirror the body within the cycling position. So, you'll notice that the back and sleeves have been elongated — gaps above your shorts and gloves are covered without fabric bunching.
Finishing touches include adjustable hook-and-loop closures at the wrists and an elastic drawcord at the hem. A media pocket with internal cable routing was added to the chest, while reflective piping and screen printing are added throughout the jacket for visibility from all angles.
The Castelli Sella Jacket is available in six sizes from Small to XXX-Large and in the colors Yellow Fluo/black and White/black.

- How to Measure:
- For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
- Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
- Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
- Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
- Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

Agreed. It does run Larger than Normal.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
For most of the Long Sleeve Jerseys from Castelli, you'll find that their products usually run small. However, for the Sella jersey, you'll find that they run Large. I ordered a Large because that's what I've done with other Castelli products, particularly Jerseys.
It's the sleeves that run long for me. I'm 5' 7" and a 32/33 sleeve length. In my other reviews you'll see that I order large and the sleeve length is just right for me. NOT for the Sella Long Sleeve Jersey.
That said, the quality is fantastic, it does it's job and keeps me warm on those cold winter mornings. We ride GMR (Glendora Mountain Road) before work, usually around 5:00am and it gets in the mid-30's...pair the Sella Jersey with the Castelli Chiro Due Gloves and you should be fine in the cold.
I've washed this jersey quite a bit and I have to tell you that I'm impressed with the fact that it is still very white in color. Lesser brands usually get dingy and slightly gray or Off-White. Not with this Sella Jersey. It's pretty dang white after a good 30-40 washes.
I did run out of cold weather gear once and took this Jersey mountain biking. Mud splattered all over the jersey, and sure enough, the mud spots came out with no problem.
+ Cleans well after muddy rides
+ Keeps you warm in the winter
- Larger than normal fit
+ Wash on Cold and AIR dry to prevent mud stains
SIze is odd

I am 6'3", 230 musclely, 36 length sleeve in dress shirts, 44 chest. Tried the XXL. The body leaves space to move but it's kinda of a 'baggy' fit, mainly because of the material. The arms are long...I rolled up the sleeve and it was still down to the back of my hand, past my wrists. I did love the amount of pockets- three in front, one in back. The styling made me look like a race car driver but without the sponsor patches. Not a good look to me. I didn't want to rate this jacket with stars because I didn't use it but I had to in order to post a review. Sent it back.
