Cycling-specific design.

It seems like a long time coming, but the Castelli is the first cycling-specific sports bra built specifically for larger cup sizes. The input of Castelli-sponsored female cyclists has led to the design of the Castelli Rosso Corsa Support Bra.

Cycling in particular demands slightly different things from a bra than running does. Chest-crushing compression is less of an issue, so the Rosso Corsa Support Bra focuses more on breathability and ventilation. Sport bras can become quite soggy when you're really exerting yourself, and then you're stuck with that moisture for the rest of your ride. This is a problem (particularly in winter weather) when you're riding over multiple long climbs where you're sweating on the way up and freezing on the way down. This bra has been designed with an ingenious mix of tech fabrics, which are all intended to provide the optimum amount of wicking to keep you comfortable and dry. The sides and back have maximum ventilation with the Tulle Mesh inserts in place to help ventilate.

That is not to say that Castelli has compromised on fit and support. The Rosso Corsa offers gentle support and a comfortable fit. In particular, the cross straps are Giro 3, the same soft, stretchy material and seamless design used in Castelli's top-of-the-line bibs. As a result, you get less stress and fatigue on your shoulders and trapezius muscles on a long, demanding ride.

The Castelli Rosso Corsa Support Bra is available in either Black or White. The bra works best for C/D cups, and comes in five sizes according to the measurement around the rib cage under the bust: X-Small 26-28in, Small 29-30in, Medium 30-32in, Large 32-34in and X-Large 34-36in.

Not functional without alterations

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

As other reviewers stated the strap closure system design is faulty. This product is not functional for its task of supporting my breasts!
In its first wear it was my dream bra come true, but every wear after the straps have come unattached during cycling or even general use (sitting, standing, not overly physical behavior). I washed it according to instructions, and did nothing to otherwise affect the product adversely.

The material and other features are incredible, and if I can successfully alter it with an alternate fastener like those on the front of standard (non sports) bra straps, then I might still order another. This will add to my overall price tag whether a tailor can do this or I do it myself. I do not want to sew it closed as another review mentioned she did successfully, because I appreciate the adjust ability--bodies can change, and quickly, especially for women in childbearing years.

This is otherwise the best bra I've ever worn cycling or otherwise. With a better strap system it might replace every bra I'll ever buy again. SO NEARLY AWESOME! Castelli is an excellent brand, and usually their products have proved to be worthwhile investments for me. I love that they innovate. It seems that no actual woman tested this design before it was put into production. I'm happy to test items like this!

What they said!

This is my first ever negative review.

A bra is only as good as its performance. One of my straps was disconnected right out of the lovely packaging. I did not wear it, but found the strap closures were easily disconnected with a "shake".

A bra in this price range should, at the very least, not "drop" its straps.
Closures are as important to me as materials and fit. I have others that "check" all of those blocks.

This will be a "return" for me.

Agree with your comment exactly, but unfortunately I have not found other bras with this kind of breathable fabric, which is the only reason I'm going to the expense to try alterations on this strap closure myself. Otherwise I'd return it right away. Hope Castelli will improve, and/or Competitive Cyclist can offer other brand options in this ballpark.

Works /looks great but strap issues

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this bra last year and it works really well for cycling. I also have the light version of this bra and love it too except for the dreaded "mono-breast" look. This bra definitely looks better on. The only problem are the straps since they unhook. (Sometimes during mid-ride much to the amusement of my male cycling buddies!) However, I like this bra so much, I simply took a good ole needle and thread and affixed the straps firmly. Problem solved.

    The Missing Link!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I purchased the "cycle bra" out of sheer necessity; mainly pain over my shoulders/neck from traditional jog bras, and as annoying, regular jog bras do not wick away sweat. After a few cold soggy "underwear" rides in dropping temps, I decided to give it a try. It met my expectations and then some. It is ergonomically designed for cycling position, which instantly took away the constant tension over my shoulders, and no more freezing soggy bras that you certainly notice on the descents; it wicks every ounce of moisture away from your skin and the fabric it self remained dry! It was the missing piece to my winter arsenal of riding apparel. I have since ordered a second one. Pretty sure there will be a 3rd and 4th! Yes, that comfy, pricey but worth it! Sizing info given is accurate.

Update on the missing link review: I started out loving this bra for all the reasons I've stated above in my original review, however after putting this bra through the wringer, I have had several "wardrobe malfunctions" w/ it. The straps do not always stay attached to the cup! it seems the closure is just not secure enough for its intended purpose. I would love to order more, but it is truly a pain in the butt to always be concerned that I am popping out! No pun intended!

Agreed on the strap set up?the hook set up on the shoulder straps is really wimpy and just odd. Please just use a regular shoulder adjustment strap like every other bra manufacturer out there. C'mon Castelli, you can do better.
