Contrary to popular belief, quality doesn't require a refinance on your mortgage. In fact, with pieces like the Castelli Presto Due Shorts, you'll put down more base miles in comfort than you will dollar bills.

For the construction, Castelli made the Presto Due from its Affinity Lycra fabric. This material features the hold and support that we know from Lycra, however, Affinity provides more stretch and elasticity than many other Lycra iterations. You'll also find that the material is incredibly light and soft -- 190 gram fabric weight, actually. This converts to around 140 denier, which, in the real world, translates to a slightly compressive fit and high thread count per centimeter. So, this means that your muscles will be protected from the fatigue-causing effects of road vibration and oscillation. But, why is the high thread count important? In a word, abrasion. By compacting the threads, Affinity becomes less course, lighter weight, and more gentle on the skin. Additionally, the fabric has been designed to be an effective moisture manager. So, during long, hard exertions, Affinity will pull moisture from the skin and transport it to the material's quick-drying surface.

In terms of fit, Castelli designed the Presto Due shorts around the cycling position. Essentially, this means that the multi-paneled pattern has been cut on a contour -- you'll notice this when the shorts are merely hanging. So, the shorts' anatomic design allows for a full-range of movement without the risk of fabric pinching, bunching, or chafing.

And extending the Presto's range of comfort, Castelli included its venerable Kiss3 chamois. For a point of reference, Castelli only makes two road inserts, the Progetto X and the Kiss 3. So, it's evident that this chamois receives Castelli's unwavering vote of confidence. This is further reinforced by Castelli engineering-in many of the Progetto's key traits, only at more cost-effective price. Starting at the surface, the Kiss3 uses a skin-care layer comprised of a bacteriostatic fabric that conforms to the body without folding. The material supports airflow, and aids in evaporation. The second layer is multi-density foam with continuously variable thickness where you need it, not where you don't. So where is it placed? Well, Castelli made sure to maximize thickness at the highly-sensitive ishial and to moderate thickness at the perineum pressure regions. Additionally, the insert has a minimal density along the perimeter. This translates directly to insert flexibility, so, you won't experience any uncomfortable riding or pinching.

The Castelli Presto Due Shorts are available in six sizes from Small to XXX-Large and in the colors Black/white, Red/white/black, and White/anthracite/black.
