The Castelli Presto Due Bib Short offers breathability, moisture management, slight compression, and Castelli's bacteriostatic chamois pad, the KISS3–all for less than a decent helmet, a low-end jersey, or a pair of bargain cycling shoes.

For the construction, Castelli made the Presto Due from its Affinity Lycra fabric. This material features the hold and support that we know from Lycra, however, Affinity provides more stretch and elasticity than many other Lycra iterations. You'll also find that the material is incredibly light and soft–190 gram fabric weight, actually. This converts to around 140 denier, which, in the real world, translates to a slightly compressive fit and high thread count per centimeter. So, this means that your muscles will be protected from the fatigue-causing effects of road vibration and oscillation. But, why is the high thread count important? In a word, abrasion. By compacting the threads, Affinity becomes less course, lighter weight, and more gentle on the skin. Additionally, the fabric has been designed to be an effective moisture manager. So, during long, hard exertions, Affinity will pull moisture from the skin and transport it to the material's quick-drying surface.the bib portion was also designed with hot-weather cycling in mind. Castelli used highly breathable synthetic open mesh to provide fit, structure, and security without hindering breathability or moisture management.

In terms of fit, Castelli designed the Presto Due bib shorts around the cycling position. Essentially, this means that the multi-paneled pattern has been cut on a contour–you'll notice this when the shorts are hanging. So, the shorts' anatomic design allows for a full-range of movement without the risk of fabric pinching, bunching, or chafing. The bib follows this design concept, as well, with a fit designed for the crouched pedal position.

And extending the Presto's range of comfort, Castelli included its venerable KISS3 chamois. For a point of reference, Castelli only makes two road inserts, the Progetto X and the KISS3. So, it's evident that this chamois receives Castelli's unwavering vote of confidence. This is further reinforced by Castelli engineering-in many of the Progetto's key traits, only at more cost-effective price. Starting at the surface, the KISS3 uses a skin-care layer comprised of a bacteriostatic fabric that conforms to the body without folding. The material supports airflow, and aids in evaporation. The second layer is multi-density foam with continuously variable thickness where you need it, not where you don't. So where is it placed? Well, Castelli made sure to maximize thickness at the highly-sensitive ishial and to moderate thickness at the perineum pressure regions. Additionally, the insert has a minimal density along the perimeter. This translates directly to insert flexibility, so, you won't experience any uncomfortable riding or pinching.

The Castelli Presto Due Bib Shorts are available in six sizes from Small to XXX-Large and in the colors Black/white, Red/white/black, Anthracite/white, White/ocean/black, and White/anthracite/black.

Nice shorts

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Comfy, runs small. Definitely a bargain hunter and I bought this pair of bib shorts when it was on sale. Durable, and the chamois is pretty good quality.

Love 'em

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

First off they look really, really cool and they function fantastically. I hadn't been in the saddle for some months due to an injury (non-cycle related), and I rode 15 miles with these knowing my bum was gonna be sore the next day - no soreness at all. Told me these things function great! Be aware I am 5'9" and weigh 159-160 lbs (32" waist) and I needed a Large (ordered M and sent back).

Does the job bibs, look good...

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I have the red ones and they look great and they ride fine, but the quality of the material cuts and stitching is lacking. It broke two stitches where it attaches the chamois to the shorts on my first time using them, I was so frustrated. I expected a lot more from he brand. Right in the front crotch area. I also ordered Velocissimo bibs but they had the same qualirty issues with the stitching. Both are made in China I noticed.

My Castelli Enduro bibs are stitched together much more nicely as are my Castelli Endurance shorts with the X2. Both made in Morocco and the stitching is good and what I expect from products in this price range. I kept these and returned the Velocissimo as well. The Castelli bibs made in Morocco and El Salvadore seem better constructed.

I'm 5'6

Poorly crafted

Returned after 2 rides. Noticed when item arrived that bib looked and felt poorly made. After 2 rides, the stitching split in several places.

Normally I don't mind wearing a size down as I appreciate the extra compression but these things were just stupidly small for a size large. Pay attention to the sizing comments and do not buy according to the given sizing chart on CC. I am returning hopefully to exchange

The Kiss3 Chamois is relatively comfortable. However the overall quality is comparable to the price. At 70 bucks you're not exactly getting Castelli's top-of-the-line skin suit, but for a cheap set of bibs they sure beat a cheap set of shorts.

The price is right but the sizing is way off.

Sizing Issues Asside ......

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Castelli just is insane with their sizing - IMO. I am 6' 1" 185 lbs. I wear 34" waist jeans. I wear XL bibs by every other manufacturer. Again - the size chart fo CC is terrible. XXL for me in this pair of shorts.

I measured from the top of the bibs to the crotch - and these are 1.5" shorter than my next shortest pair of XL sized bibs. Hope that helps.

That aside - the shorts are attractive, well made and very comfy. The chamois is thicker and more stiff than my other shorts.

I did 53 miles in these today - no problems.

Get at least one size bigger than you normally would.

Great Bibs

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Had them a year, very comfortable and durable. I'm not sure what other bibs at twice the price have that these don't ? They have been used for a 100 miler and in the rain, no issues. I am 6' 185, 36 waist and I wear a large.

save your money

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I just tried on a bunch of castelli bibs (presto, free aero, endurance x2 and body paint). Hands down the body paint 2.0 were the best. You feel the difference instantly if you have both bibs to try on one after the other. The straps are better, the chamois is better, the material is better, the fit is better. When I first got into cycling I just bought whatever was cheapest, but if you are riding for more than 2 hours spend the money and get yourself a good bib. Trust me. So my suggestion is save the money you would have spent on this and put it towards a nicer pair. (if the louis garneau's fit you better then i recommend either the course, or the superleggera), and if assos bibs fit you well then I would just go with those (the straps don't sit right on me so I have to lose some weight first before I switch to assos).

Nice bibs!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Ordered them using the provided size chart after taking my measurements. Size was spot on. From this experience I will always follow the manufacturers size chart and forget about what size I use in another brands. I know there's plenty of complaints about Castelli running small but I measured myself and compared my measurements using the chart and they were a perfect fit and I'm not a small guy (6' and 210 pounds with a large chest and hips) The material feels and looks great, the chamois is pretty comfortable. Bought them on special to sweeten the deal even more! Thanks Backcountry!!

Great bibs!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I absolutely love these bibs...I got them on sale and so far after riding on them for a few months am still very impressed. I have ridden other bibs from gore, pearl izumi, etc and I can say that so far castelli is my favorite. If you can't afford to buy a pair of castelli's bibs that have the progetto x2 chamois which are the best, then these are the next best thing.

What is the inseam. I am 5'5, Need shorter...

What is the inseam. I am 5'5, Need shorter leg/ Some Castelli factories cut shorter inseam. I wear size M.

Responded on

It is roughly 11 inches on an XXL...remember that castelli runs small so if you normally wear a medium you might want to think of a couple sizes up.

Great Bibs for Price Run Small

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This a great bib for the sale price - clearly a step up in materials and design from the ergo tre. The only problem is in the blue model I had to go up to XXL to get a comfortable fit because the straps are so tight. On all other Castelli bibs XL fits fine. I wonder if the other colors are so tight because they are not so discounted?

Sizing is one up, quality is so so

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I'm 5'7" and 165 lbs. Ordered the L and XL as a comparasion. The L fits pretty nicely. I have an issue with the quality of the lycra. Feels thin and the stiching does not feel sturdy. But the bibs are pretty cheap. I ended up returning and purchasing the de marchi bibs ( slighty more expensive @ 80, but the quality feels much better ).

Sizing is off

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I love the style and choices of colors. I didn't read the review and they are correct on the sizing. I wear a small but the small on these is for someone really short. The bottom fit nice, but I couldn't put the straps on. Way to short and I'm only 5'7". Will be ordering a medium and hope they will fit.

Responded on

where you able to fit the medium? did the straps fit? I tried a medium on this bibs and yes the straps are tight. I usually am a medium on other brands like pearl izumi and LG. I'm thinking of getting a large on this.

Decent bib

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

They run about 2x too small, good value for a $60 Castelli bib, nice looking. Time will tell if they last.

Responded on

mlep508450 is correct about the sizing, I ordered an XL and it fits like a Medium (I have other Castellis bib that are XL and fit correctly). Size up accordingly!
