Description

Warm days that seep through otherwise cool Octobers always seem to have a chance of rain in the forecast. The Castelli Misto Jacket is a pocket-sized waterproof jacket that will keep you dry without weighing you down.

Castelli combines performance and fit in every jacket it designs, and even though it's a lightweight rain jacket, the Misto is no different. It was constructed from Torrent 2.5-layer fabric that has a 10,000mm waterproofness rating. While some companies use a waterproof fabric, but do not seal the seams of their jackets, Castelli fully taped all the seams of the Misto for total waterproofness. In addition to keeping the rain out, the stretch properties of the Torrent material give the jacket a form fit while allowing you freedom to stretch out while riding.

Keeping the rain out is important, but if the jacket is not breathable, once you start moving and working up a sweat, you'll be as soaked from the inside as the outside. The Misto is breathable so that moisture is able to move to the exterior and evaporate.

The Misto's high collar minimizes rain seeping in and the front zipper is waterproof so you won't worry about splash from the wheel in front of you soaking you to the bone. For those days when the sky is grey and you feel invisible to traffic, Castelli has added 360 degrees of visibility with reflective striping around the jacket.

The Castelli Misto Jacket is available in Yellow fluo/black and Black and comes in sizes Small through XXX-Large.

Good in drizzle, worthless in rain.

  • Fit:True to size

Jacket is light, packable, and reasonably comfortable. It worked great in light rain and drizzle but as soon as it was met with steady rain it soaked right through. I wore this jacket about 4 times in various amounts of rainfall and had the same results. Also this jacket does not breath well by any means. As a packable wind jacket I think it would do the job but being that this is billed as a rain jacket it fails.

As far as size is concerned I wear a medium jersey and large bib in every brand I've tried. I'm bulky in the legs and bird chested for reference. The fit was a bit large but what you would expect for a garment meant for layering.

Meh.

Little bummed. I am a bit chunky and this seems to run a little big for us plus sized riders. I am 5" 11' and right at the 200lb mark. I wear a XXL in all the other Castelli gear I own. I have only used this multiple times and it usually just stays in my jersey pocket. I have worn it over my Sanremo 2 and over a Castelli Puro jersey to keep some moisture off and seems like I was just getting wet from the inside. As a light stuffable rain fly it works, but don't expect it to not create it's own micro climate. For me it isn't breathable enough and isn't quite the fit I was expecting compared to their jerseys.

Fantastic! I'm warm and Dry.

The Misto is a great packable light rain jacket -especially at this sale price!!! It is fully rain-proof and wind-proof.

Is it as good as the $300-$400 rain jackets made by Castelli and a few others. Of course not. But it works *a lot* better than any of those ~$100 ultralight windbreakers that everyone makes. Let's face it those "wind" breakers provide limited wind protection (warmth), almost zero serious rain protection, and the textile doesn't breathe at all.

The Castelli Misto provides much better wind and rain protection relative to any of those cheap nylon wind jackets. And it is more aerodynamic (does not flap in the wind as much). And it breathes much better too (not perfect, but not bad either). Remember, no rain jacket exists that will not steam up at least a little in 100% humidity.

I think it's a no brainer at this price.

Also, although the material is slightly thicker than those cheap windbreakers, you can easily pack the Misto in your center rear pocket.

Tips for use: In wet 50-65° weather, use a light or mid-weight long-sleeve baselayer underneath to wick away sweat and maybe a jersey or light jacket for warmth - such as Castelli's *fantastic* Trasparente.

In wet 40-50° weather: add a warmer jacket underneath -such as Castelli's sublime Mortirolo model.

FIT: Size up +1 here -like always with Castelli. I'm 5'10" 185, the XL fits me perfect. This garment is meant to fit pretty snug so no flapping. Yet large enough to potentially fit over a jersey and/or jacket with full rear pockets.

Great carry along rain jacket!

To address the question below, there are no pockets in this jacket. However, it's super lightweight, seems to breathe pretty well and gets relatively small. I'm able to carry this and a rain cap in my jersey pocket with room for multi-tool, ID, and snacks. I haven't been in a downpour yet but it certainly rolls all other water off.

Does this jacket have any pockets?
