Item # CST2717

For challenging conditions.

Windproof materials, a fleeced lined interior, and excellent grip give the Castelli Leggenda Gloves winter protection and security for challenging conditions. It's constructed from a two-layer, two-way stretch fabric that's not bulky like traditional full-finger gloves, but equally warm.

Two layers are used to form a membrane with a micro-fleece, breathable inner and water-resistant, windproof outer. This locks out the elements without clamminess and keeps things warm. To ensure positive grip, the palm is covered with silicone print, and for comfort, Castelli uses Poron XRDTM padding.

And because these gloves are for darker days, Castelli incorporated plenty of reflective elements.

The Castelli Leggenda Gloves are available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Black, Grey/black, and Red/black.

Really good cold weather gloves

  • Fit:True to size

These work for me from 25-40degF. At first when I put them on for a 33deg ride, I thought I was going to roast, because I'm used to having to start out with cold hands and let them warm up during the ride, and right away they were warm. But they breathed pretty well, and I didnt start getting sweaty hands until the day peaked around 40degF. This was on a hard ride - on a light effort, they might be OK for higher temps. Windblock works really well, almost a little too well. Padding in the palm is great too.

Good All Around Winter Glove

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Use these gloves for temps in the 40s. Being from the deep south, we do not get many days below the 40s, but we have our share of humidity, and combined, can cut to the bone. The Leggenda gloves are comfortable and I can easily feel my way around the shifters and brake levers...not to mention they keep my hands warm!!! A good winter addition for me.

Awesome winter gloves

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:Runs large

These gloves are my go to on days with temps ranging into the mid 20s to the mid 30's. Any colder than that and there really isn't a reason to ride outside. They could be paired with a light inner glove on really cold days. Any warmer and I go with something lighter. The grip is great and they are plenty warm. Sometimes too warm on mid 30 degree days when you really start moving. The cuff is loose which allows some breathing as well as aiding in easy on and off in case you need to grab something from your back pocket. To sum it up these are great winter gloves. I bought a medium consistent with other Castelli gloves I own. These fit more like a large to me.

It is Rosso Corsa; the highest tier of Castelli lines. What else I have to write?

Hands Down - Thumbs Up

Huge hands (you know what they say) and XXL is right on time. I will say the wrist does not have much "give" but it is not a problem. Excellent padding make these a cozy option. These look as good as they feel and they look dope. Never sweaty, these keep the bite of the wind off nicely. I would stick them right between an Estremo and the Lightness gloves from Castelli, they make a perfect go-between for 35-50F. Great gloves.

Awesome gloves

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

When I purchased these I wasn't sure they would have enough padding or be warm enough. I use them for 30-50 mile rides. So far 38-55 degrees and they are great. My hands stay nice and warm and the padding is perfect. The gel grips on the palm side is good for gripping. The wrist area is easy to get your hands through and tuck up just over my jersey sleeves to keep my wrists warm as well. I wear medium gloves and these in medium fit just right. Love the simple styling cues of the black ones. Excellent design.

Nice!

I went on a 33mile ride on a blustery 32-38 degree day. Avg temps on ride were 36.8mph, 16mph avg. 2:10hr ride time. My hands were great the entire time! Not toasty, not stifling hot, but just neutral. My fingers never got cold. I previously did the same ride with just glove liners, so I know how cold feels when it creeps up. I was surprised, my riding buddy was surprised. I have to say I was skeptical about these because of their flashy looks, but they're a keeper.

I also bought Gore Power SO gloves... the wrist opening is so tight, and is cinched with such a tight rubber band, that regardless of which size I tried on, I could not get comfortable. They were like wrist a turnicate. Getting the right glove may be trial and error, but I encourage you to start here.

Castelli designed these to cover most all of your winter rides, and I buy that now. I often say, let me get the warmest glove I can just in case, but when it's 20 outside... I'm probably not riding anyway. I would rate this at 34 up to 45-50F, temps high enough to tempt you out on the road and low enough to need these.

If there is one knock, it's my genetics. I have small hands and the gel padding here hits just a bit further back where it should becasue the model hand was a bit longer in the palm that mine.

is the windproof perfect? I can't decide...

is the windproof perfect?

I can't decide what to buy 'gore bike wear tool so gloves' or 'castelli leggenda gloves'

Is the wrist cuff elastic? When I purchased...

Is the wrist cuff elastic? When I purchased the super nano gloves I had to go to

An xtra large because the wrist cuff on the large was not elastic and I had difficulty

Putting them on. I would have preceded the large as the finger length was a better fit

But I had to go xtra large to avoid ripping the cuff. Would you recommend I do the same with the Leggenda gloves?

Best Answer

The Leggenda cuffs are elastic and stretchable, nothing like the fixed cuff on the Super Nano's. You'll be fine ordering your usual Castelli size.

very elastic and wide, no biting into the wrist and definitely stretchable over a wide range.

Awesome.

Castelli bills these as a good all around glove and I'd have to agree. They are not good for really cold (20s, 30s), but in the high 30s to high 40s these really do a great job. They are very comfortable (just enough gel, just enough layers) and I found them to be well made (so far). I'd buy these again and again - they are my go to gloves in the middle ground of a Northeast winter. The grip is just right for both commuting and road cycling.
