What community has to say
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I'm not sure how I would have made it through this past fall and winter in Chicago, without this jacket. It's the warmest jacket I've put on (full disclosure, only had on a handful).
The pockets in the back are nice and deep/big and allow you to store extra gloves and a bunch of other things. It cleans nicely, which is a good thing since i'ts been caked in mud and dirty water more than once.
I've ridden in weather down to 30 degrees, and with a long sleeve and this jersey, I've had NO issues keeping warm.
I'd highly recommend this jacket.
Best Jacket for winter!
This jacket is VERY warm. If it's above 50 degrees you are going to get hot real fast. Below 47 is better. It is windproof and has a thick fleece like lining. The jacket is form fit, so you won't be able to layer up much under it, but you won't need to. I can only get a base layer under it as the sleeves are fairly snug. I ordered this Jacket for the coldest winter days and it's exactly what I needed. So glad I have it. I love the look of this Jacket. I'm 5'2", 120 lbs. A size small is a perfect fit!
Note: if you are a casual rider, you may not heat up as much and be able to wear it in the 50 degree range.
Yesterday the temp was 43 wind chill was 33. I had this jacket and a base layer and I was perfectly warm the whole ride. Very happy.
Super cool in a warm way
When I put this on, I felt like hitting the slopes. This is a very comfortable, warm and breathable jacket. The rear pocket has lots of room with an extra little flap over the long zipper - this has two zipper handles so you can open it with either hand. But you really don't need to zipper it as the flap will keep it all in. The jacket is fleece on the inside which helps with warmth of course, but also makes the seam stitching a little less noticeable. I noticed this because I usually buy gear with that "flat lock stitching" but I also didn't have a base layer on too. Not an issue cause I ride with one. The reflective seams are nice - in silver. The silver Castelli logo adds visiblitly from the back without being too blingy. On the inside, the high neck collar is the only part that is not fleece, it's the windstopper material. Good length and excellent movement in the jacket. I am 5'8" 135 pounds and ordered a size large. Even if I gain 10 pounds this winter, I will not feel restricted in this jacket. But I won't because now there is no excuse not to ride.
