Race your race.

When designing apparel for triathletes, all three disciplines must be given equal consideration. The shorts you wear need to function for each distinct leg of the event, with characteristics that allow you to smoothly transition from one sport to the next. Castelli knows how important this is, which is why it's developed the Free Tri Shorts.

The Free Tri Shorts are constructed with Castelli's hydrophobic Instadry Speed fabric. This material's tight knit composition holds your muscles comfortably in place, providing needed protection from run impact and road vibration. A notable perk to the derivative next-to-skin fit is that the shorts won't cause any excess drag, both on the land and in the water. And in terms of the latter, Instadry's hydrophobic treatment provides a smooth surface that cuts through the water. Additionally, this material prevents water absorption from weighing you down during your swim and causing discomfort after T1.

Panels have been joined with flatlock stitching throughout, preventing chafing and irritation during your run or ride. Castelli's GIRO3 leg gripper system and draw cord waist comfortably hold the Free Tri shorts perfectly in place throughout the versatile movements of your race.

The Chamois built into the shorts is Castelli's triathlon-exclusive KISS Tri. Castelli designed this insert to work most effectively while you're in the aerodynamic position on the bike, with unnecessary foam trimmed away to optimize comfort during the run and swim portions of your race. Furthering this concept, the surface of the insert is entirely free from seams. And when mated with the chamois' high engineered elasticity and low, 3mm density, Castelli guarantees that it'll follow your locomotion during the run.

The Castelli Free Tri Shorts are available in six sizes from Small to XXX-Large and in the color White/black/red.

  • KISS Tri chamois
  • Hydrophobic Instadry Speed fabric
  • Giro3 leg gripper

awesome tri shorts

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

this is the first pair of tri-shorts I have purchased. They were awesome, comfortable with just the right amount of padding and support. They run small as I wear a Med (5' 11' 180 lbs) and it was too small so I returned them and the Large fit fine. I have worn them for just biking and they are great. I bought several different brands and these are well worth the money, don't go cheap when you're talking about comfort.

Perfect

You have to look down to ensure you still have your shorts on! More comfortable than my non-tri bike shorts, yes, I would rather ride in these. I have the top and bottom, and it's great that they are more "skin-tight" as opposed to compression, which is not what I wanted. There is a bit of compression, but not an uncomfortable amount. For sizing reference, I have consistently purchased Pearl Izumi in a size Medium. I purchased these in a Large and they are an EXACT fit if that helps. I am 5'9" 163lbs

What is the inseam on these shorts?

Wish I would have found these years ago

These shorts are fantastic! Run a little small in my opinion, but that will encourage me to cut a few pounds for that extra competitive edge. I love them...fantastic feel, amazing weave/fabric, and...I think they will last a long time. Great buy.

Heaven

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These shorts must be made from kittens and rainbows. Seriously. There is just way to much goodness and comfort in them to be made of anything else.
These are hands down the most comfortable tri shorts I have ever worn. I just completed a flat full distance triathlon and never noticed any discomfort with these shorts. Every other short I have worn has bothered me to some extent.

I would say these fit slightly smaller than usual. I typically wear a large but I am happy I ordered an XL here.
