Maximum comfort.

When you know the duration of your ride will be cool, there's really no reason to pair knee warmers with shorts. That's why Castelli designed the Evoluzione Women's Knickers, which let you keep seams to a minimum and warmth and comfort to a maximum.

The Evoluziones use Castelli's ProDry2Strati fabric, not an off-brand stretch knit. This fabric features a two-layer construction that wicks moisture from your skin to the exterior of the knickers so that it quickly evaporates to keep you dry. As far as fit, the Evoluziones were sewn to conform to your body while you are in the riding position. Additionally, double needle stitching means that the knickers are durable so that you can put them through their paces. The leg openings feature in-mold silicone leg grippers which keep the shorts securely in place.

Castelli is known for its chamois, and more importantly for designing its cycling shorts from the chamois, up. The Kiss Air Donna, which is used in the Evoluzione Knickers, is no exception. This insert features a soft, brushed microfiber top that rests comfortably against your skin. This layer is seamlessly engineered so as to eliminate chafing and abrasion. Additionally, the insert has been designed with a flexible shape that moves with you.

Compression and Comfort

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

These fit quite snug, but once on they are very comfortable for longer rides. These are perfect for cooler days or mornings. As I have a longer torso, a wider waistband would improve the fit, as I do find myself pulling these up when I am off the bike.

These knickers are super comfortable and the pad isn't too big or bulky. I wish I had purchased a pair sooner! Highly recommend these!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

These are my favorite biking pants! They fit like a glove and don't wiggle anywhere while riding. I was a little worried about buying capris as I thought they would bunch, but I didn't have to adjust them once! Love the padding and the higher waist to tuck in everything that needs tucking in.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

At first I didn't think I'd like these knickers. I've had two other pair (blew them out from wearing them so much) that I loved. The fabric on these was a bit stiffer and the fit was tighter, despite the weight I'd recently lost. Also, the padding was slightly different and I was concerned about chaffing (I'm very narrow and the padding seemed cut wider than on my previous knickers). But, I decided to give them a try after reading about bike pant fit and thinking that perhaps some of my rump pain was related to pants that didn't fit exactly right. Well, these were amazing! I had a super comfortable ride and despite all the quirks described above, I fell in love with these. It seems the things I thought would bother me, actually worked to my advantage. The stiffer fabric (providing more compression) was great on the cold ride and the padding was just right. I do believe these run small.
