I purchased the size medium 5'10" 180lbs. They fit a bit snug but that is the way I like them. These are European style and cut so order a size larger than the U.S made bibs. The chamois comfortable and has the endurance for those long century rides.
is good and very comfortable, feels very good about long distances, is nice, but came with a default labels come off the first time, must be a manufacturer defect and to replace it and see a product primnera came with the same defect, I have used many products from this brand and the first time I have this disadvantage.
Rode these for 30 miles one day, and 45 the day after.
I've assessed these to suffice access to my ass. They're nice bibs is what I'm trying to say! The shoulder straps are nice and wide, not as snug as the Endurance bibs, the chamois isn't as plush but it is sufficient enough to out do some of my other bibs.
I thought "HEY! There's barely any pad!" Nope, it's just plush where it needs to be, and they remove excess pad where it's not needed.
They must have wizards that came up with this.
The low-pro design is nice, the huge logos kind of give it some flare, but I don't mind it. Wish it had more reflective tags such as the Endurance bibs, but they'll do!
Very happy with them, and the price should keep your wallet happy too!
Bought the bib as a backup but could not get over how comfortable they felt when riding. straps are wide and nicely fit around frame/shoulders. padding is adequate. i'm 6', 185 lbs and a large works great for me. In terms of price/quality ratio, I'm glad I bought these.
ordered 2 pairs of these bibs and the fit is perfect.i am 5'5" at 169lbs.nice and snug.dont plan on smuggling more than two plums though.straps are a bit tight when standing but are comfortable in the riding position.
I do wear these pretty regularly, and now that I've got a good bike fit and comfortable saddle they work pretty well. The chamois is definitely very thin, which can be harsh but is nice in terms of not getting bunchy or soggy with sweat - really depends on how much cushion you need. The material is pretty nice - I actually find it fairly stretchy, and haven't had problems with the crotch being too tight, maybe mine are just broken in. Not a fan of the upper material - I have to wear a base layer under these even for short rides, just too itchy otherwise. And the combination of them being cut a little short and having pretty poor grippers means they tend to ride up. I'm 6', 160, 32 waist, and the large fits ok, although maybe a bit short.
A long-time roadie (20+ yrs) but recent newcomer (and now loyal customer) to RealCyclist, I am trying to start to leave feedback (I've bought nearly $1k in clothes here and on Bonktown in the past month alone) in hopes it helps others as they have helped me with their reviews. My build: I am 6'2", 190 lbs, skinny legs (thigh 2" above knee is 17", mid thigh is 22.5"), my hips including the widest point around my buttocks and hip bones is 40", my waist is 34-35" (depending on season), and basically a flat stomach. My body fat level is around 14%, thus most of my body weight lies in my upper body muscles, with chest 42-44" (depending if I am lifting or not), my shoulders and arms (biceps 14.5-15 or so relaxed, wear a 16 1/2, 34-35 dress shirt, with skinny 7" diameter wrists). Since we all have probably experienced how manufacturers can make lines of their seemingly identical bib shorts incredibly different with regards to size and fit, this review specifically focuses on this bib short from Castelli (and not any other in their line, which I do own). IMHO, these Ergo Tre shorts are great all rounders, and I bought a Large in them. Legs silicone grippers (I shave) are snug, shorts all over are snug, and the chamois stays put whether in drops or riding with no hands & eating. The shorts material is smooth, compresses moderately (it is not low compression, and neither is it high). One negative aspect of these shorts is that not all the seems are flat-locked, which is perplexing coming from Castelli. Still, the ones that aren't flatlocked, are still so soft and docile that I do not feel them at all on a ride. Overall, the bibs ride well and wear well. The chamois is not thick nor is it super thin; I can only say it simply feels good on sub 100 mile rides---but understand it is not the stuff you see in higher-end shorts. But that said, on 40-70 low mileage recovery rides, these shorts perform very well. Last tibdit: if this sort of thing is important to you, the color is outstanding, matching many of my Capo, Castelli (and other) Italian jerseys that have the either the blue in them, or (as one reviewer mentioned) you have dark jerseys that would set off beautifully against the Italian blue. At the current price these are being offered, these shorts are a steal. I've already nabbed more and put them away for the future.
I had only used shorts before to bike, and a friend of mine told me to try bibs. So I got this to try and I'm really impressed and happy with them.
The quality is really good and they are really comfortable to use. I will definitively think on get some more bibs later, and with no doubt Castelli has been a brand that has always deliver great quality products to me!
I got these bibs and was happy with the fit immediately. There is a tag on the inside that started to itch after a couple of hours, but that can easily be removed. My first and only ride so far was 3+ hours. These bibs work great and I couldn't be happier, considering the price paid for them. I was worried about the thin pad (I had previously been using a thicker one) but it did an adequate job for hours in the saddle with no breaks. Overall, I'm very happy with these and would recommend them to anyone else. I'm 5,11'/160 on the skinny side. The size L works perfect but barely. Tight but not uncomfortable.
Great for the price. No complaints at all since research ahead of time convinced me to order a full size larger. At plus one sizing waist fit is great as mentioned below Italians of my girth must be much shorter than me. Not a problem when riding but it is snug 'down there'. I expect it will stretch to perfect size eventually.
These are a great upgrade from my last pair of shorts. The padding is comfortable in and out of the saddle. I like the rubber grip in the leg to keep them from riding up. I am about to try them out on a 20 mile ride in Austin.
I got a pair of these earlier this year. The material is top notch, the construction is unmatched, but the fit is a bit of an issue. While they fit my waist size appropriately, they simply give zero room if you have any objects 'downstairs'. The result can be excruciating on a long ride. Just looking at the way they are built in the groin area, its hard to imagine they planned on any room for genitalia. When you first put them on you feel OK, not quite like a kick from your sister. But an hour later numbness sets in, in all sorts of places, and you finish the ride wondering if your little buddy will ever speak to you again. I haven't experienced permenant damage, but I fear it would have resulted if I wore them a few more times.
I got a pair of these last year. First off let me say that the material quality is great compared to any other bibs or shorts I've had. I little too good as they don't give much.
I'm 5'7" and 145 on a good day. I typically wear a medium and in some American brands occasionally a small. That said I thought these would be fine in that size. Not true. In width and girth they were great but it is like they were built for someone 4 inches shorter than me and I'll give you one guess where all that pressure comes to a crux. You know what I said about great material? That also means they didn't really ever stretch out or "break in." I really feel severely mashed and bruised in my bits and pieces after a couple days in these bibs.
Great quality but do yourself a favor, order 2 pair and try them on or go at least a full size up.
I purchased these recently in the cyan color - size L. I'm 6'1", 185lbs with 25.5" thighs. The shoulder straps felt a bit tight for my height but when riding they felt fine. The materials stretched beautifully to accomodate my thighs while riding so this size will fit anything from a thin to larger thigh. The thigh grips are about 1/4"(5mm), just enough to grip your thigh without pulling the hair. If you where larger than a 34 waist in pants, get the XL.
The chamoix is quite comfortable even though it has a low profile. My road bike has a thinly padded seat and I was comfortable on rides up to 3hrs. The cyan color looks great against a black or red top.
I highly recommend this bib for the performance to cost ratio. There's also the cool factor in blue....:)
