Castelli Endurance shorts

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

The feel and support of the fabric is great, very comfortable pad. Best shorts I own

Best pad I've had!

  • Gender:Male
  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I bought 2 pair of these shorts and 2 pair of Endurance bib shorts, both in large and XL. I am 6' 1", 200 lbs., 34" waist. The Ls seemed too tight, so I kept the XLs.

- Sizing - with these shorts the best size for me would be right between a L and XL. I road about 2000 miles using these 4 pairs in about 8 weeks. After about 4 - 5 weeks the leg bands started to stretch some. It wasn't too noticeable on the bike, but was off the bike. So I returned all 4 pair to CC just under the 90-day limit and bought L size to replace. They are a bit snug, but I think they will work out good.

- The bib straps could be a little wider. No issues on the XLs, but they are a little tight on the Ls. Not really noticeable on the Ls once riding.

- The Progetta X2 pad is the best pad I have ever had. Over the past 20 years I worn Nike, Nashbar generic, Pearl Izumi and Louis Garneau (most recent) shorts. I have a Brooks Professional (leather) saddle. None of the other pads I've had even come close to the Progetta. With the original XL shorts I purchased I rode close to 600 miles per pair. The pad feels like new. I had to wear a pair of 4 - 5 year old LG shorts later in the summer, and it felt like I had no pad.

- The length of these shorts is just what I like. A little longer than mid-thigh. A lot of shorts seem to be sized so the leg ends pretty close to the knee, which I don't care for.

I can't say enough about the CC customer service and return policy. I felt a bit guilty about returning the 4 pair of shorts after almost 3 months of use - but they weren't going to make it in the long run. For the money I paid for them, I had to return. No hassles whatsoever.

Poor Stitching

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
  • Fit:Runs small

I noticed the stitching on the side of the shorts was coming apart before I even got a chance to ride in them. Don't be fooled, Castelli isn't made in Italy. The jersey and shorts I bought were made in El Salvador. A lot of their products run small in size too, so be careful when ordering.

Great Padding

  • Gender:Male
  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Best padding I have ever used.

I need high end cycling shorts with a...

I need high end cycling shorts with a shorter length that average (1inch maybe). What do you recomend? Will the Castelli shorts work?

These shorts are pretty typical for Castelli so far as length goes. I have a pair of the Velocissimo shorts and the length is identical.

Castelli Good, Chafing Bad!

I bought these to alleviate some rubbing issues with Garneaus - good buy, durable, comfortable, Scorpion!

    simple, effective

So I'm not really one for spandex, but recently when I went to ride 1500 miles I figured it might be a good idea to get the right equipment for the job. These shorts definitely did the job and kept the nether regions in more or less working order, but I did have some problem with seams unstitching slightly. Not full blowouts, just random loose strings here and there. Outside of that though, they did what they ought to.

Marathoner turned cyclist a few months ago. I wish I had running shorts that worked this well.
