Keeping your hands warm and dry in cold, wet conditions can seem harder than finding an honest man in Congress. Fortunately, for scuba divers, surfers, and those of us who refuse to get off the bike when the weather gets nasty, we have neoprene. Few materials excel at defeating cold, wet conditions with the verve of neoprene. The Castelli Diluvio Gloves are constructed from 3mm neoprene to keep out wind and water alike. A textured grip on the palm makes sure your hold on the bar remains secure at all times. And because exposed skin is unpleasant, whether it's your hand or wrist, the glove's cuff extends far enough to tuck it inside your jacket sleeve. Simply put, the freezing cold day has met its match.

The Castelli Diluvio Gloves come in Black and in two sizes -- Small/Medium and Large/X-Large.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

After using these five or six times the thin layer of fabric on the inside of the gloves palm has separated from the neoprene on both gloves . Every Castelli product Iv'e ever purchased has failed miserably .... I guess I will return or exchange them if possible ......But then again , maybe it's just this pair ??

never had a problem live in Canada use a lot a couple thousand miles a year in them you must have gotten a bad pair

Great deal ..

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I picked these up for 50% off and have used them in the mid to upper 30's for two hour rides and they worked great . Yes my hands got a little sweaty but really now if you can't handle a little sweat maybe you shouldn't be riding .. For the price i would definitely buy them again .. Also I have large hands and the xxl's were plenty big enough ...

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These fit well, very little reduction in dexterity (which I experienced with my Gore Fusion gloves). I wore these on a 4-hour ride with an average temperature of 34-degrees and I never once thought about my hands and cold. One thing to note is that your hands sweat when in these. I did not notice this while riding. I only noticed when I stopped in the middle of the ride and needed finer dexterity (to pull something small out of a pocket), so I went to remove one of my gloves and realized my sleeve, the inside of the glove and my hand were dripping with sweat. Also, it was a bit of effort to get the glove off, so not sure if I would recommend doing so while riding. In summary, I like them. They do what I need, which is to keep my hands warm for long periods while riding in cold weather. As for sizing - my hand circumference is 8.25" and my hand 'length' (from wrist to tip of middle finger) is 7.5 inches. I ordered the L/XL and they fit perfectly. Also, while the glove 'sleeve' isn't overly long, I felt it was long enough.

Good Glove For All But The Coldest Ride

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These gloves are awesomely warm, and have been a welcomed addition to my cycling repertoire. If I had any complaint, it would actually be that they can be a bit too warm above 50 or so. By design, they don't breathe terribly well, so if you start climbing there is the potential for a case of the clammy hands. Conversely, the lower temperature limit for me is the low 30's. Excellent construction, fits well, and has that classic Castelli styling.

One glove to rule them all!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Wow. This glove is awesome. I used them first on my commute in the Bay Area which is 20 miles and starts in 40degree temps, ends in the mid 60's. It's a tough challenge for gloves and usually results in either freezing hands at the start or sweaty hands at the end.

These gloves were perfect and the wicking ability was amazing. I didn't realize until I took them off that my hands were sweating - they pulled the moisture out! Great grip and feel. My only ask would be some fabric on the thumb/index finger to let me operate my phone (and my Strava app!) without taking them off. Add that and it would have been 5 Stars.

Warm but wet

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I've had these gloves for about a year now and have ridden with them on the road and mountain in temps ranging from the 20's up to around 40's-50's in the rain. They will keep your hands warm, even after they get soaking wet (neoprene retains insulation properties while wet) however, your hands will not be dry. Even on drier days, due to the lack of breath-ability, after an hour or 2 your hands turn all pruney, making your tough leather hands into soft delicate flowers. In a couple of the 2-3 hour races where I've ridden these, I had some pretty nasty blisters on my pointer fingers from chaffing I guess when standing up and rocking the bike. I've done several NUE 100 mile races and never had to deal with blisters (albeit it's the summer)

Now the temp range. At the lower temp ranges (20's) they are not very good. Make sure they are dry when you put them on, and you'll be able to make it through a quick cyclocross race and thats about it. Past that, and they will leave you with cold hands. Also because they are neoprene, chemical hand warmers will not work because no oxygen will get into the gloves.

The final tip is if you do get these, make sure you pull these thing inside out to dry if you want to use them a day or 2 apart. If not, since they trap moisture, your finger tips will start off wet.

Good but not Great

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Winter came early in the Toronto, Canada area. I've used them in negative temps and found that most of my hand will stay warm, I would even say sweaty. But where you really need the warmth is in the finger tips. Make sure you get them bang on for size otherwise any cold air will trapped inside the glove will take forever to warm up, as one of the other reviewers mentioned. And put them on while you're in the house. If your hands are cold and you put these gloves on, they'll remain cold for a while. The coldest I've used them in so far is approx 18 degrees F (-8 degrees C for us Canadians!) I would say they're good for 20 deg, but nothing below that. They do keep your hands dry from the elements though.

Sense of touch is impaired quite minimally with these on. However, since these are neoprene the inside tends to get a bit clammy. No big deal though. And I agree with the other reviewer, that these gloves don't perform well in very cold weather; i.e. close to freezing and below.

Very Good Gloves

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I live in Ottawa, Canada and I have come to appreciate these gloves. They are effective of keeping my hands warm in the 7 to -3 C range and I really like the grip. They act like a wet suit allowing some movement of sweat or rain in and out. That water is trapped in the glove tight to the skin and warms. They are difficult to remove and only partially touch screen friendly. I had concerns the graphics would wear off but the seem to be holding.

Awesome gloves

I absolutely love these gloves, they warm up as I ride them, you get used to having damp hands when you remove them, they are worth that. They fit tight and are fairly useable, I can unwrap and eat food while wearing them even, cant do that in my old bulky gloves. They are perfect for when you are riding in the cold rain like here in Vancouver on the West Coast.

Great Gloves But Not As Warm As Expected

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These gloves have a lot going for them. Like a lot a lot. Here's what's great:
- Snug fit, most dexterity I've ever had with a glove
- Great grip, textured palms and fingers grip even when it's extra nasty
- Nice design, clean lines and decals
- Plenty warm for most temperatures

That last bullet point gets a bit of a caveat though. These gloves do need a bit of TLC when it's extra cold out. If you're outside and not wearing them, you need to keep them warm (i.e. stick them in your armpit). Putting these gloves on cold results in them taking forever to get warm, to the point where they're borderline useless. And, if it is a colder day out (20 degrees or so), they might not even hold up to the cold.

Still, if you're snot isn't freezing, these are a great set of gloves. Very happy with the purchase.

Wow. Just, wow.

These are some fantastic cold weather gloves. I wear them on any cold ride. It makes me look forward to a cold commute. I have enough space inside to add an additional, thin runners glove to add more warmth if needed. The gloves are not cumbersome enough to mess with shifting or braking, in fact, they're not cumbersome at all. The grip is very grippy, especially on the first few rides. I was sticking to the hoods. Not in a bad way. I'd highly recommend these. I might even purchase a second pair on sale.

Nice gloves

Definitely keeps your hands warm on cold days like no other gloves I worn before. Be prepared for sweaty hands and wet gloves (on the inside) when you get back. I take care to allow the gloves to air dry thoroughly after riding. As needed, I wash in delicate cycle using All Free Clear brand laundry and air dry.

less bulk

rode for 2 hours in 35 degrees, very comfortable and warm and easy to brake and shift gears.

As advertised

This glove will keep most cold weather commuters happy. I live in DC and never really find myself wishing for something warmer in the winter months.

The only thing worth mentioning that may be a turnoff for some is the sweat factor. The way these gloves keep you warm without being super bulky is that they simply don't let any heat out. That means the perspiration of your sweaty hands will remain in the glove as well. To me this is irrelevant because I shower when I get to work - if you don't, a simple hand washing will get rid of the sweaty feeling.

Great Gloves

Several wet and cold rides with these gloves and they always keep my fingers very warm. Neoprene is very form fitting and i love that it does not have a velcro closure; fits very snug against body not allowing a draft in around the cuff. The palm is very cool looking and grippy, I feel like Snake Eyes from G.I. Joe when i wear these! Another great product from Castelli. It would be nice however to have some outer fleece on the back of the thumb to wipe my nose with; neoprene is not very soft against a runny nose!!

These gloves are comfy and of high quality. The stitching is great. Perfect for cold weather and they look cool too! It has plenty of grip on the palm so slipping is of no concern.
