Castelli Core Mesh Sleeveless Base Layer $0.00
It's almost like wearing a shirt made out of air.
This is the sleeveless version of the Castelli Core Mesh Base Layer. As with the short sleeve version, it offers a 21st-century update of the classic fishnet style design. The older design used the holes of what felt like real fishnet to trap air between the skin and the second layer of clothing. By trapping air, it creates a boundary layer where air can remain warm and perspiration can move as vapor off the skin to the second, usually exterior, layer. The improvements Castelli brings are several. The mesh is made from a polyester hollow core fiber that is soft to the touch, wicks well and has great stretch. The shape is called bodywrap because it is designed to wrap or hug the body so the gaps are only in the mesh, not between the mesh and the body. The entire garment is mesh, save the hems and the "V" just below the collar.
The Castelli Core Mesh Sleeveless base layer comes in White. There are three sizes -- Small/Medium, Large/X-Large, and XX-Large. Go for the smallest possible size you think will fit. It will stretch.

Yep, it does it's job well!
Normally on warm (90 degree plus) riding days I don't want anything close and surrounding my skin to not allow it to breathe. On climbs I like to zip my jersey all the way down and let the air cool my chest. However, after reading some reviews and talking to friends, it seemed like a mesh base layer, such as this one, would be very beneficial on hot days in the saddle. In the past I've tried PI's base layer on hot days, but found that it did not breath well and just stuck to my upper body. The magic of this base layer is the mesh material and how it lets air flow get between your jersey, bib straps, and chest to keep you cool. I wore this on a 60 mile voyage last weekend in 90+ degree temps and it made a significant difference. If I had to gauge, I would say it cooled my body temp by 5 or more degrees.
I normally wear XXL in all Castelli gear, but found the L/XL provided the tight, next to skin fit I wanted for a base layer. It's a very stretch piece - so no sense wearing it in a size that fits loosely. Also, I recommend washing by hand and taking great care not to let this piece in contact with velcro (IE - gloves or road ID).

How is this supposed to fit? Are the base layers supposed to be skin tight. I have a 38 inch chest and a 33 inch waist. Should I get the S/M or the L/XL?
You want them tight. Generally they come tight, some less so. Read the description carefully and so long as it's tight fit, order per the chart, otherwise you may need to order down a size.

I usually save the meshy net clothing for the club, but I saw Klier wearing one on the Koppenberg last year so I gave it try and yea...it works! Super thin and light so you really don't even feel it. Seems to help keep core temp down. Drip dry though cause your machine will shrink this thing up like a tank the SITUATION on Jersey Shore would wear.
This is an amazing product! When you take it out of the package, it doesn't look like much. But, once you put it on and ride on a hot summer day, then you understand it's quality and function. You should give this a try, you won't be disappointed.
love at first ride...
the contruction keeps U cool, feels great against your skin...
Wore it the first time, washed on gentle cool cycle, dryed on low heat and guess what? it's my gilfriends now it shrunk 1-2 sizes; buy a size bigger then you are, honest.........
I was a little skeptical that adding a layer under my jersey would help cool me down, but after using it I'm sold. It helps keep my jersey from sticking to me when I sweat on a hot day and creates some airflow between me and my jersey to cool me off. Great purchase!

I need a base layer under shirt which can be worn to keep warm while riding my bike in the cold winter months. Do you have such a garment and if so at what price. Size Medium
This under jersey will not keep you warm in the winter. But what I have found is a great under jersey that will is the Descent thermal undershirt. I can't find it here (bought it from backcountry.com they may still have it), but it is killer for the cold rides
Frans, try this base layer, it has a "wind stop" front. http://www.realcyclist.com/roadbike/CRA0160/Craft-proZero-Extreme-Wind-Stop-Shirt-Short-Sleeve-Mens.html
Or search CRA160 great price.

is this better than wearing nothing under the jersey? I'm skeptical
Yes. This helps create air flow between your body & the jersey. Some aero/ergo jerseys fit so tight that they "cling" to you when you sweat. This is a nice way to stay cool on a hot day.
Euro Trash works
So it is 98+ deg outside. I dawn this baby & slip my favorite full zip jersey over it - head out to the base of the climb. The climb pushes me to my limit, but the techno trash music is pumping from my iPod & my jersey is fully open. I can spear to dump some water weight, so down my back the river from my water bottle goes. Bottom line, I was stoked to have this base under my jersey. It adds a whole new level to ventilation. If you get it, you'll get it. Very worthy product.
