How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

Here's what others have to say...

Almost Outstanding

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

The weight and performance of this garment are stellar. First time out rode 1.5 hours in misty on-again / off-again drizzle and core stayed dry and comfortable. Have also worn it in cool, dry conditions as a wind vest and it seemed reasonably breathable...but that is a difficult judgment to make. As advertised it is uber light and easily packable.

The single flaw, and one that makes me hesitant to wear it -- it rides up in the back. Yes, there is elastic at the bottom of the rear panel but that is inadequate to keep the tail low. Once it rides up, loose fabric at the shoulders flaps annoyingly in headwinds or at speeds above 21 mph. I have even sewn a strip of silicone-backed elastic at the rear hem but that did not solve the problem.

Disclaimer ... I am 5'9" tall at 150 lbs, with a 39" chest. I am right on the border between Calstelli's M and L sizes, and the vest I'm struggling with is a L. It fits reasonably snugly but not tight. Perhaps my experience would be different if I could wear a medium without feeling constricted.

Castelli quality (almost).

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

The windstopper fabric is pretty amazing. It's almost as light as any stuffable flimsy rain cape I've had, but it feels more durable and is totally windproof and decently water resistant. I was a little disappointed that it's not stretchy enough around the shoulders so at higher speeds it starts to flap. But that annoyance turned to being pretty chuffed when the rain started: I got stuck in a total downpour first time wearing it and the vest totally did it's job. It stuffs down pretty small too so it's a good one to choose on those days you're not sure about the weather.

Summary: great fabric & quality, light as a fart, annoying flapping, fits great in a jersey pocket no problem, slightly longer than my other Castelli vest (good), totally rocks in the rain. Deducting 1 star for the flapping.
