The aptly named Castelli Avanti Full Zip Short Sleeve Jersey represents a definite move forward in jersey technology. And though our expectations are quite high whenever we put on a Castelli jersey, we are nevertheless impressed that the Avanti performs as well as it does, placing it competitively alongside any other sport-fit jersey out there.

The Avanti feels so good because it is made from two of Castelli's most luxuriously smart and soft materials. First, the Prosecco 3D ensures that you'll feel comfortable and dry no matter how hot and humid the day is. That's because the Prosecco hydrophilic treatment speeds up the evaporation of any resulting moisture by spreading it over a larger surface area within the fabric. The 3-D structure of the fabric makes it seem like it is practically floating above your skin, providing just enough contact points to improve wicking without that uncomfortable clinging feeling. In addition, Castelli uses Softflex fabric on the larger panels of the Avanti to give the jersey a soft, stretchy feel with a cotton-like hand. Don't let that fool you, though; this is a smart fabric that provides amazing moisture management.

What will most catch your eye as you examine the Avanti is the hybrid raglan insert sleeve construction that wraps around the shoulders and down the center of the back. It delivers both the comfort and freedom of movement that defines the raglan sleeve construction, while the extension down the back will help the jersey resist sagging and shifting when you've over-stuffed the jersey's three large pockets. And even though you may be wearing this jersey just about every ride, you won't have to be concerned about this jersey showing its age; the sublimated sleeve logos will stay crisp and fresh even after endless washings.
