Description

Martello, roughly translated, means hammer.

Make your pedal-pounding ascents more comfortable (and look like a rocket on the downhill) thanks to the CapoForma Men's Martello Bib Short. The dual-density chamois puts thicker material under your soft spots and thinner elastic pads where the edge of your saddle meets your inner thigh. Breathe easy thanks to stretchy bib material, which provides light muscle compression and an aerodynamic fit that hugs your body. Two-ply leg grippers offer an additional measure of muscle compression for fast recovery, and these grippers keep the shorts' legs from riding up when you're maniacally pedaling for the finish.

Here's what others have to say...

Purchased, tried on, returned

6', 180 lbs. Got these and the jersey on sale, both in Large. Bibs fit fine, like 90% of the other Capo gear. The slight ribbing of the material felt interesting, but not offensive.

But I didn't like the cuffs at the bottom of the legs. Compression was uncomfortable just wearing them around. Maybe it would be better riding, but I disliked the jersey so much that I decided not to keep either part of the kit.

Capo Martello

Manufacturing quality is excellent, the material is nice.

I purchased the LARGE (My waist measures 32 1/2 inches with roughly a 17 inch circumference just above the knees)

The fit is not crazy tight or loose but supportive and does not move about. (my tackle can breath)
and is as they say gives light muscle compression. ( I also like the longer legs on the bibs )

The Chamois is very good but not as good as the super dooper Carbon one in their Cyan model.
( those are the best bibs I have ever owned. The rolls royce model IMO)

The reason I purchased this model and not another cyan, being that it is very close to my clubs colours and I can ride in them without the sponsors ruining my kit, I am a club racer not a pro and they are of a better quality than the club kit.

Realcyclist.com Packaging, delivery and service was excellent and fast no problems here from me. Location Australia

Great Capo gear for a reasonable price

This are great for rides under 2 hours. Anything more and I would suggest upgrading to a nicer kit.

Matello bibs

Just got the Martello bibs, rode in them, and they were great, but...........

Demograph: 5' 7.5' 135-139lbs with what I would like to think is a 30/31 waist.
No six pack, faint four pack and larger than average thighs. Short legs, longer torso.

The shorts were long and the cuffs though comfortable were kind of loose. The fabric was excellent, but not very snug. I called Upland to ask their advice, and have decided to try the Cyans in small per their recommendation. It might just be that Capo bibs do not suit my anatomy, but their jackets Modena, (and soon to arrive Tomba) in small work well. Form fitting if just a little long in the torso.

I would recommend the Martello bibs, just wish that they were snugger and slightly shorter. Then again it may well just be a size issue. The chamois was very comfortable by the way.

Follow up:

I have put on a little winter weight and the loose cuffs are no longer an issue.

Really like these bibs, mainly for the two piece anatomic chamois. Tried to purchase another pair but unfortunately the Martellos are no longer available in M.

Decided to go with the Doratos as they also sport the two piece chamois which I'll review as soon as they get here and I have a chance to try.

5' 7.5" 142lbs and 31/32 waist. Medium.

Fit is comfortable and by no means sung. Tackle is very comfortable, which I attribute to the two piece chamois.
Highly recommended.

Love the design

I love the Capo's Martello design. I had to have it so I got the bibs and the jersey.

The legs are longer than usual and it's because of the very wide white band at the end of the legs. They do feel a bit excessive and looser than I'd like, so one star off for that.

One thing that's not visible in the pictures is that the black part of the bibs have this very nice, textured/striped look. It looks great and makes it have a matte look instead of shiny.

Sizing is the usual, small European kind. I'm 5.9", 179 lbs and got XL because I have another Capo bib in XL and it seemed like a good size. For this Martello, however, XL is a bit too big.

Any suggestion on sizing if you're between sizes? I'm 5 9 1/2, so just barely taller than suggested M, but waist 32. Do these tend to run small or large?

Responded on

I am the exact same height at 5'9.5" but I have a waist that varies between 33-34 depending upon the amount of riding.

I found the Medium to be more than a little snug and would recommend the Large for total comfort.
