Description

Goodbye SC, hello GS.

Capo's all new GS-13 Bib Shorts borrow many of the defining fit and style cues from its best-selling SC-12 model, only with several new fabrics and a revamped, more supportive strap system. The GS-13 (short for Gruppo Sportivo) is the latest step toward blending comfort, compressive support, and streamlined race fit into a single pair of bib shorts.

Capo constructed the shorts' contoured top and inner leg panels using its high-gauge (HG) Lycra. The material's dense, three-dimensional design gives it more muscle support than standard Lycra blends, as well as abrasion resistance for durability in the high-friction inner thigh zone. Moving to the outer leg panels, Capo incorporates its lightweight microfiber Carbon E fabric for its high breathability and wicking properties. The leg openings receive a wide, single layer of silicone-taped Carbon ES fabric that gives you a gentle but secure hold without the bulkiness of any excess material. This simple, understated single-layer hem detail provides more comfort and breathability when compared to many overly-restrictive cuff designs currently out on the market.

For 2013, Capo introduces its bib strap harnessing technology. This is a two-part strap system that combines Capo's fine-gauge microfiber Eyelet Mesh with its HG Lycra. Used in the straps' lower half due to its highly breathable and vertically elastic properties, the Eyelet Mesh is designed with a textured surface that stays raised off of your skin, speeding evaporation and keeping you cool and dry. The Eyelet Mesh is bonded to the laser-cut HG Lycra upper straps. This creates a vertically stable system that stays securely in place along your shoulders throughout your ride.

The GS-13's chamois is Capo's Anatomic 4G Carbon Elastic Interface Technology (EIT) Insert. Its high-density, open-cell foam is bonded to an antimicrobial microfiber layer that has carbon fiber threads woven through it to speed moisture evaporation. The 6- and 8mm-thick pads built into the pre-curved profile, along with its elastic memory, make this your perfect chamois for longer, or as Capo appropriately calls it '6-hour,' rides.

The Capo GS-13 Bib Shorts are available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Black, Navy, and Red.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had to exchange the LG GS-13 Bibs twice and now this is the third time. My girlfriend bought these for me as a gift. The fit wonderfully 6'1 - 185Lbs and I love the fit especially while on long rides. I take extreme care while putting them on because of the sticky nature of the silicone on the leg bans. I roll them up first put on the bibs and once they are on over my shoulders I unroll the leg bans. I have washed them only on delicate cycle in the wash machine, and I have notice the shoulder straps have delaminated and I have had runs (Like panty hose) on the jersey. I have a difficult time knocking this kit because I have ridden in many different kits and this Capo is by far the most comfortable, it's just that the materials used are so delicate. I have been treated more than fairly by the returns department from Competitive Cyclist.

great bib

This is a very nice looking and functioning bib as is with most of Capo's items. The only thing I can't quite get used to is the weird back strap. It puckers even when riding in between the shoulder blades and it isn't really a soft material, not a big deal, but it seems to be a strange set up. I like the traditional straps better. They are perfect on long rides and would probably be best with some quality chamois creme to top off the great comfort..

Very good

Me: 6ft2, 162lbs, 30in waist
I need a large in Capo shorts. The fit is nicely compressive throughout thighs and waist. The chamois is good and the shoulder strap are the right length.
Since the shorts are quite tight, I really need to pay attention to pull them on hard before riding or else they'll end up a little too low.

Very good

Update after 6 months: the shoulder strap has recently delaminated and while I can still wear it, it is annoying. No answer from Capo through email.

Capo did answer email after a few days and worked out an exchange.
