There is very little about the Capo Drago Bib Shorts that is subtle. They have a racy, 'painted-on' fit, and menacing, red piping down the back that screams of villainous science-fiction intent. But a deeper glance at the Drago reveals a highly technical garment that stands to easily rival what could be considered the best shorts from Giordana or Assos.
In creating a bib short that defied convention, Capo had to completely re-think their design and production processes from the ground up. The goal was to create a garment of superior quality, comfort, performance, and protection, therefore run-of-the-mill polyester or pedestrian blends of Lycra would not be good enough. Thus, the Advanced Technology System (or 'ATS') was born. The idea behind ATS was simple: Capo would create their next generation of ride-enhancing cycling garments by combining the most technical Swiss and Italian fabrics they could find with the most advanced production methods available. You could think of ATS as a bit of Italian mad science; a highly polished experiment in conceptual performance textiles, not unlike the exotic supercars that might grace the show floors of the Geneva Motor Show. Except these exceptional bib shorts go beyond existence as a concept, and are available to the discerning public.
Conventional bib shorts might be constructed from a singular Lycra blend with weaves varying anywhere from 15 to 30 gauge (traditionally recognized as a 'high gauge' Lycra). To scale, a medical-grade compression garment might use a 70 gauge Lycra. Striking a perfect balance between the two are the Drago Bib Shorts, which are sewn from a Swiss-made, 50 gauge Lycra whose dense weave ensures that supportive and compressive fit, without being too restrictive. The side panels of the short are reinforced with a unique antimicrobial carbon fiber threading that expedites dry time, and serves to re-illustrate that Capo has spared no expense in the engineering of the Drago. Capo has also engineered a new and super comfortable harness-style bib upper exclusively for both the Drago and its little brother, the Volta. These harness straps are composed of a lightweight eyelet mesh bonded to a brushed microfiber, which is then seam-taped and laser cut. The resulting straps are buttery smooth against your skin, and very low profile -- ideal for an abrasion-free and highly breathable fit beneath the sheer Drago Jersey.
At the heart of the Drago is Capo's top-shelf Anatomic Strada HD Carbon EIT Insert. In addition to the pad's multi-density anatomic construction, you also get two additional high-density perineal inserts to give precise support on longer rides. Again, antimicrobial carbon fiber threads are woven throughout, helping keep the chamois dry and funk-free. For many of us, this can mean the difference between nursing a painful saddle sore, and crossing the finish in first.
Capo finished the Drago Bib Shorts with a Schoeller coldblack treatment to assist your skin with temperature regulation while protecting you from harmful UV rays. Even though the Drago short is only available in Black, the coldblack ensures that even under the hottest afternoon sun, the fabric resists heat buildup, and should remain cool to the touch. The laser-cut leg bands on the Drago are infused with a unique silicone treatment to more effectively keep the hem in place while you ride, and also to resist the ravages of your washing machine. Due to the shorts' compressive fit and tacky nature of the silicone, Capo recommends (and we completely agree) rolling the hem over while putting the shorts on, then rolling back on to your skin once you have the bib comfortably situated. The Capo Drago Bib Shorts are available in sizes Small through XX-Large.
From start to finish, the Drago kit is designed and produced entirely in Switzerland exclusively for Capo

I really like the material and the build quality of the Drago. I have 3 different bibs from Capo and found the quality to be excellent. The Drago has a few panels which are cool to touch and acts to dissipate heat. The chamois is substantial and firm which I like for the 100+ mile rides. However, I have one major issue. The leg openings are laser-cut which seems to create a very sharp edge. It gave me multiple "paper cuts" right across the thigh and started stinging as I perspired. I thought it was just skin sensitivity to their material but it was not the case. I can see the cuts which showed up clearly after a day or so. It happened every ride. I had to return them. If not for this the Drago would've been a keeper.
Nothing comes between me and my saddles except Capo. The Drago fabric & chamois is simply put - "unbelievably fantastic". Just a perfect second skin that screams "performance" and "speed". It is the best from the boss (Capo translated means "boss"). All my Capo are the first in my laundry basket - always. This product is not overrated, and well worth the price. If you think you are worth it, and you can afford it, buy it.
My kit (Bib and Jersey) says "Made In Italy", so sounds like the Swiss connection stated above is all about that fabulous fabric while assembly must be in their Verona, Italy facility.
