There are only so many times you can watch Andy Hampsten win the 20th stage of the 1988 Giro D'Italia in a dark basement before riding outside becomes necessary. On days when the sun is out but low temperatures threaten your face with frost bite, slip on the Capo Balaclava and take to your training to the road.

The Balaclava is woven into a single, seamless piece with Dryarn. This thin, stretchy material sits close to your head and neck without adding extra bulk under your helmet. When you find yourself heating up on a long climb, Dryarn moves moisture away from your skin so you don't end your ride cold and damp. The anti-bacterial treatment throughout the yarn reduces bacterial growth so you still smell fresh after a few rides in it.

The Capo Balaclava works best in temperatures ranging from 30 to 40 degrees F and comes in Black. It is available in one size.

Comfy but not durable

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Very soft and comfortable and best breathability of any balaclava I've tried, but the lightweight construction is too fragile. After just a couple of rides the mesh over the mouth and nose area started to tear, and my beard stubble created runs in the chin area. I used this over the winter on about 10 rides, and it is totally destroyed with huge holes in the mesh and tears across the chin. Great idea, but needs to be sturdier.

Extremely comfortable

This balaclava fits perfectly. You almost don't notice that it's there. You can pull up the chin fabric to cover your mouth if you like, or leave it down.

I would agree with the others who said it's not good for cold weather. It is thin and light. 40 degrees and up is good. Could wear it colder than that if the sun is out.

Great fit, quality, but.....

Like this item, but does not work for me when the weather gets below 40 Fahrenheit. More of a fall, early spring head gear.

A steal of a lifetime

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This has to be one of the nicest cold weather items I have, and it's sub $40. What can you buy that's high quality in cycling for $40!! I use this on sub 40 degree rides and it's excellent. Keeps me warm with out sweating too much. Wicks the moisture really nicely while keeping you nice and warm under your helmet. Love how long the neck is also so you can zip it up in the colar of your jersey or jacket. Really recommend this.

The best

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is the best balaclava that I have ever had. It fits great ( I have a large head) its warm and breathable. Breath-ability is the biggest problem that I have had with balaclavas in the past and this one is great, I don't have to pull it down to breath.. Also it doesn't really mess up my helmet fit.Warm ears, neck and cheeks! Great!
