Description

Comfort and stretch wrapped into one.

Known to many as the 'race of the two seas,' Italy's Tirreno-Adriatico serves as a final preparation for the Spring Classics season. The race received its nickname due to its start/finish residing on opposite sides of the country, with the seven stages spanning these two points. To honor this historical stage race, Capo teamed up with Competitive Cyclist to develop the new Adriatico LE Jersey.

For the construction of the Adriatico, Capo used its Micro Quattro fabric for its airy composition and low overall weight. This material breathes better than most nylon/Lycra blends, and it rapidly transfers moisture away from your skin to its quick-drying outer-layer. Combined with these lightweight and thermo-regulating properties, Micro Quattro also stretches in order to wrap and support your upper body and arm muscles while in the cycling position. The fabric also provides both UV and anti-bacterial protection. For the underarms, Capo applied its lightweight and breathable V-Mesh 360. As its name implies, this mesh provides 360 degrees of stretch in order to ensure that you receive unmatched comfort and freedom of movement in these sections of the jersey. By selecting these two fabrics for the jersey's entirety, Capo was able to create panels that smoothly transition from one to another without any disturbance. This means that the jersey's seams all but disappear, which leads to a more efficient aerodynamic profile.

Capo place an equal focus on implementing lightweight technical fabrics into the Adriatico as it did refining the jersey's fit. The goal of the Adriatico was to create a streamlined jersey with both a maximum freedom of movement and the most breathable, lightweight materials available. This anatomical fit was made possible using pre-shaped fabric panels that closely follow the body while in motion. When sewn together, these panels form somewhat of a three dimensional shape on their own, mimicking the body before even reaching your shoulders. The result is a jersey that eliminates all unnecessary material, leading to the best fit possible.

Like all of Capo's jerseys, the full-length zipper is lockable. In its flipped upright position, the jersey is able to be pulled apart with one hand. Simply flip the zipper down, and it locks. This makes opening yourself up for ventilation a safe, single-handed affair while riding. The locking zipper is indeed a tiny detail, but once you discover how easy it is to use, you'll never want to ride without one. Three generous back pockets provide plenty of room for tools, snacks, or any other essentials that you might need for your ride. Additionally, a silicone-treated hem keeps the jersey in place when the pockets are loaded. The left rear pocket is featured in a contrasting colorway, which denotes Competitive Cyclist's first Adriatico collection.

The Capo Adriatico LE Jersey is available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Blue, Cyan, Fluo, and White.

One fatal flaw

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Update 5/15/2014

I just wanted to mention that the "fatal" flaw, after several uses, isn't all that fatal. This is a very nice jersey, especially for those who are ambidextrous. I've learned to zip it (and other jerseys) left handed. And it seems fine.

At the current price, $44 (more than I paid), these are a steal.

--------

This is actually a fairly nice jersey, especially for the $55 price. However, there is one fatal flaw that I can't seem to get past.

The zipper on these jerseys is on the left (female) side. I've been zipping things up on the opposite (right) side for 50+ years, so this arrangement is very awkward to me.

It's really a shame, because other than that, this is a pretty nice jersey. If you're female or European, this may not bother you. If not, I'd suggest finding something else that zips up "correctly".

disappointed

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I really like the looks and colors of this jersey and the fit is fantastic, but after only two uses the pockets are torn away from the back. Two holes in a new jersey, not acceptable and definitely nor up to the Capo quality standard I am used to wearing! The pockets are too small to get your hand into while riding (I have somewhat small hands). I believe pocket size and placement is the reason for the fabric failure.

First Capo kit

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is my first Capo kit. Very impressed with the jersey. Fit is spot on. 6'3" 185 pounds and the XL is perfect. European sizing. Love the longer sleeves and the wicking properties. Really like the locking zipper. Bought the white jersey with the matching bibs and the look rocks. Not as gaudy as some Castelli kits. Truly a winner. Have all major brands of kits in my closet and Capo is a welcome addition. Will be back for more.

Anyone know what the sizing is for XS?

The Extra-Small will fit in about where you would expect, fitting riders 5'4" to 5'6" with a 34-36 inch chest.

Capo Fan

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I own several Capo kits because I'm a big fan. I'm 5'11" and 165lb and a large fits me perfectly. I like the race fit style so my jersey doesn't flap around when I'm riding. I also like the how the arm sleeves grip my arm tight.

Classic traditional look

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Love the look, fit and quality of this Capo jersey. Great detail in workmanship, and yes it's actually made in Italy. Runs slightly small but not as small as Castelli. I purchased a medium and I wear a large in Castelli jerseys. My medium in this fits nice and snug but not tight! I am 5'7" 165 lbs. 40" chest. I love Capo products. Get yours today. You will thank me later.
