How do you spell "cycling"?

Throughout the years, no single name has become as synonymous with cycling as Super Record. As the face of that iconic groupset, the Campagnolo Super Record 11 Ergopower Shifters have a lot at stake, so change can be a dangerous and even counterproductive thing. That's why the pro riders who Campagnolo approached for suggestions and to use as guinea pigs were initially surprised that Campy wanted to make such radical changes to the already peerless Super Record. The resulting improvements, however, shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

As pretty as they are, it's the function of Campy's Super Record group that makes its shifter levers such iconic cycling artifacts. As with all Ultra-Shift levers, you can affect up to three cogs on the downshift and five cogs on the upshift for the rear derailleur. The real change is in the cable pull ratio that the shifters operate on. It's been updated for faster, more precise shifting, which is the main reason why the 2015 group is incompatible with 2014 and early groups and which necessitated a complete re-imagining of the whole drivetrain.

The big winner with the new shifting ratio comes up front, where a shift to the large ring requires three clicks (via one swipe) and a shift to the small ring requires two clicks with a third reserved for trim adjustment. This means you get to ride all 22 gear combinations with no chain rubbing.

The new iteration of Vari-Cushion silicone rubber hoods incorporate varying densities of hypoallergenic silicone and a waffle pattern on the inside for additional cushion. The external pattern is a return to the pebbly texture of Campy's old ten-speed models, but with a more structured, modern design than the old faux-leather look. The tiny bumps provide traction while their surrounding grooves channel water away for an easy grip. The levers also contribute to a confident ride courtesy of their overall shape, which feels as though it was molded inside a pair of hands.

For 2015, the Super Record Shifters' myriad advantages over Record and Chorus return. This includes the use of lightweight titanium instead of steel in the internals. They also use the same double curve brake levers, including the signature cut-outs and improved pivot point, so you have equal braking power on the hoods and in the drops. The use of lightweight materials net the Super Record Shifters a weight savings of six and eight grams over Record and Chorus shifters, respectively.

The Campagnolo Super Record 11 Ergopower Shifters include a full complement of Campagnolo cables and a shim to increase the hoods' bulk as desired. They also include a cable derailleur barrel for quick dialing of your drivetrain.
