Like the Record 11 chain, the Campagnolo Chorus 11 Ultra Shift chain is 5.5mm wide. This narrowness means it has less interference with adjacent sprockets and chainrings, which makes it quieter and quicker-shifting than previous generations of Campagnolo chains. The re-shaped Ultra Shift outer links contribute to its quick shifting, plus it shaves a few g's to make it weigh in at 252g. Plus, a re-formulated outer link material gives it 20% greater longevity.

Another similarity to the Record 11 chain is its Ni-PTFE treatment, giving it added smoothness and durability. In fact, the only difference of note between the Record 11 chain and the Chorus 11 chain is that the Record version has hollow chain pins, and the Chorus pins are solid. This nets a 14g weight savings for the Record. But you can rest assured that the Chorus chain shifts every bit as crisply as the Record version.

The new Ultra Link system gives the chain a high retention force to protect you from the consequences of ham-handed shifts (something we've all done when we're beaten up near the end of a hard ride). But please note one critical change due to Ultra Link: The Chorus 11 chain requires the use of a Campagnolo UT-CN300 chain tool for installation. Yes, this tool is pricey, but the narrowness of the chain necessitates precise installation. Note also that the Chorus 11 chain is compatible with all Campagnolo 11 speed drivetrains -- Super Record, Record, and Chorus.

The actual weight of the Campagnolo Chorus 11 Chain is 252g.

What do you say about a chain ..

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

when it does what it should? That's the case here -- if you run Campy 11-speed components, the Chorus 11 chain is a great way to save a few bucks and get ~ the same performance of the Record. Tried and true.

2. Do you have any 10speed campy?

Just don't do it. The 11 speed chain is norrower, shound not be used if 10-speed setups and if you don't use the $200 Campy 11 chain tool it will likely break immediately or while on the road.

I have been running an 11-speed Campy Record chain with my Campy Centaur 10-speed drivetrain for 2 years ? works like a dream. I also use a Sram Power-link to connect the chain. Again, works like a dream. No expensive chain tool needed. The shop I go to is owned by a long-time Campy expert, and he recommends the Sram Power-link setup for Campy chains ? he sees no need for the expensive tool. Don't believe some of the things you hear about mixing Campy stuff.
