Bora One 35 Wheelset

The mid-depth Campagnolo Bora One 35 Wheelset - Clincher is the defacto all-around wheelset for the Campy rider looking for an everyday race and training wheelset. It offers low rotational mass making quick work of climbs and just enough depth to cheat the wind so holding speed on the flats is a little easier. As with everything Campy, it makes no compromises in the wheelbuild or any of the components ushering in a modern-width rim with Campy's legendary bearing expertise that brings the Bora name to a price point that is more attainable.

Clincher compatibility allows the Bora One 35s to perform outside of the days that you pin on a number. We are really excited about the wider rims which on this newer generation, has swelled from 20 millimeters up to 24.2 millimeters. This allows for greater tire volume, better handling and cornering, lower rolling resistance, and a smoother ride. The wider rims also contribute to better lateral stiffness and improve aerodynamics with wider tires. These gains in ride quality also come with an overall weight loss since the cross-section of a wider rim lets Campagnolo use less material while offering a rim of equal strength.

The main difference between Bora One Wheels versus the flagship and higher dollar Bora Ultra Wheels are the hubs. The Bora Ones' hubs are made of aluminum instead of carbon, and the bearings are Campy's Ultra Smooth Bearings (USB) instead of CULT. The USB hubs still use legendary Campagnolo ceramic bearings, which are a claimed 50% smoother than steel, putting the USB hubs in a league above. The cups where the bearings reside are steel versus the Cronitect on the CULT's but we're not sure if we could tell a difference while riding especially taking the difference in price into consideration.

Campy has expanded the use of 3Diamant rim braking surface treatment to include all Bora models and it addresses most of the key braking issues we've had with some carbon rims in the past. Campagnolo literally uses diamonds to hone the brake track to near perfection, removing imperfections and resin so that the pads contact a strip of slightly textured carbon. This eliminates pulsing and reduces the time it takes for the brake pads to grab the rim increasing stopping power by 40% in wet conditions and 20% when it's dry.

Campagnolo finishes off the Bora One 35s with a few more thoughtful details. The oversized rear flange nets additional stiffness for power transfer that you can be thankful for on those big wattage romps to the line. The included quick releases are redesigned with an eye toward weight loss and aerodynamics. Returning features include the signature G3 spoke pattern, which improves power transfer and better balances spoke tension. Dynamic rim balancing offsets nominal weight imbalances so the wheels are more stable at speed. Campy constructs and lays-up all of the carbon for the Boras in Vicenza, and every piece is X-rayed to scan for imperfections.
