Explore the Sequoias hydrated.

Hiking to the Franklin Lakes consists of a steep, ten mile trail, so be sure to bring plenty of water in CamelBak's Sequoia 22 Hydration Backpack. Apart from the included three-liter hydration reservoir, the Sequoia's 22-liter capacity can store plenty of food and layers for your journey. Its women-specific, cushy Independent Suspension works with the ventilated Alpine NV back panel to keep you comfy car-to-car.

The included Standard Antidote features a classic bit valve that magnetically attaches to one of the shoulder straps for extra convenience. The pack has plenty of pockets for sunglasses, water bottles, an easy-to-access layer, and more. There are even attachments for trekking poles, located next to the secure compression straps.

The best pack for day hikes

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Several months ago I was searching for a day pack to replace my 10 year old CamelBak. I wasn't looking for another CamelBak specifically - I just wanted the best day pack out there. After doing a lot of research, I ordered 7 packs (yes, 7), so I could actually put them on and check them out in person. I tried other packs advertised as day packs around the same size - Deuter, North Face, Kelty, Black Diamond, Camp, etc. At the end of the day, I had to go with this bag - it was the only one that had everything I needed/wanted. Every other pack was missing several major things, not comfortable, and/or too big to really make sense as a day pack. The CamelBak has it all - trekking pole loops, BIG water bottle holders that can actually fit my 50 oz bottle, very comfortable straps, great and varied compartments, including a hip belt compartment (which has really come in handy and now I can't imagine a pack without one), a reservoir that can easily fit a 3L pouch (many can't or you have to seriously strain), and I could go on. The size of the pack is also perfect for me - I do a lot of full day hikes, but I also just pop out of my car sometimes for a short hike on road trips and this pack works well in both situations. Lugging 40L bags on short hikes didn't seem like it would work well for me once I actually had those bags on. Even though this bag is on the smaller side for day packs in this class, it easily fit everything I needed on hikes. I often carried around my wallet, chapstick, sunglasses, keys, travel maps and documents, small first aid kit, rain jacket, sweatshirt, socks, v8, bars, gels, trail mix, a large digital camera and lens, etc. I also took this pack on a trip with some plane travel and fit my 15" laptop in the large compartment, in addition to all my other stuff. Overall, this pack is awesome. The only little improvements I hope they make for the next iteration would be making the tube connecting the reservoir to the mouthpiece longer - it's a tad bit short which makes me need to tilt my head a little awkwardly to reach it. They could also add a second hip belt compartment to the side that doesn't have one... nothing is there, so why not use the space? It would also be helpful to add another loop on the bag so that more carabiners can be attached and add a whistle on the chest strap. Overall, though, this bag had more of the essentials for day hiking than others and I'm so glad I got it. Thanks, CamelBak, for getting it right.

Awesome Pack

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Purchased this as a gift for my wife. She enjoys hiking during the Summer and early Fall. She has only used it once, but it worked very well. Stitching and fit were great. Her only wish would be more padding in the shoulder straps.

Great Gift for Summer Hiking

I bought this for a friend to use as a day hydration pack for some hikes in the Wasatch. She absolutely loves the Mysterioso/Bluebird color scheme. If you're looking for an excellent hydration option for some day hikes this summer, then look no further.
