Zero compromises.

What do you think the "Zero" nomenclature indicates in the Bont Zero+ Durolite Cycling Shoes? Zero compromise? Zero flex? Zero unnecessary grams? Maybe zero wind resistance? Coming as close as possible to zero in each of these categories, a big "yes" across the board signifies that these are among the finest cycling slippers you're going to find, period, and we're happy to explain why.

Already renowned for producing the stiffest cycling shoe sole in the business, the Zero+ doesn't receive any structural or layup changes to its proprietary unidirectional carbon fiber underfoot. The sole does get a matte finish this year, however, which sheds a few grams of weight. Not unlike the carbon below, the Durolite synthetic upper is newly developed to have the greatest strength-to-weight ratio of any upper material used on the market. Combined with the ultra-low 3.6mm stack height, ultra-stiff sole, and a zero-stretch, Kevlar-like material used throughout the upper that's bonded directly to it, the Zero+ is extremely light and also provides outstanding power transfer. One ride and you won't believe what you'd been giving up compared to your old shoes.

Stiffness and responsiveness aside, a big part of what makes the Zero+ shoes so amazing is Bont's attention to the importance of comfort. The heat-moldable sole has been perfected over decades of the company's experience. A specially designed U-shaped forefoot provides lateral support for a far more stable application of power, rather that the squirming that can result from the flat, non-supportive forefoot of much of the competition. That's only the start, though.

You'll also notice a rounder profile to the toebox, compared to the narrower, aesthetically-focused "dress shoe" appearance of many others out there, which provides much more natural positioning of the toes, spreading power transfer across the entire forefoot and mitigating the crushing of the smaller toes that can lead to that dreaded hot-and-tingly sensation, especially on longer or more rigorous rides. The medial-longitudinal arch that's dialed into the Zero+'s sole combats knee, hip, and lower back pain that result from unsupported overpronation, a common issue for many riders. Finally, excellent breathability is achieved via venting through the forefoot in the upper and in the tough TPU toe protector.

The Dual Dial, Kevlar wire closure system up top distributes retention pressure over a large area of the top of the foot, eliminating pressure points, while at the same time allowing extremely precise modulation of how tight of a fit you'd prefer for any given situation. The closure area is also covered by a smooth panel to reduce the shoes' aerodynamic profile. And, as with all Bont shoes, the sole guards, retention system, and all other small parts are easily replaceable in the event of a crash, because Bont knows that its shoes can, and will, easily last through many seasons of abuse.

The Bont Zero+ Durolite Cycling Shoes are drilled for use with three-bolt road cleats. One size 42 shoe weighs approximately 230 grams. The shoe is available in sizes 41, 42, 43, 44, 44.5, 45, and 46 only, and comes in the colors White and Black.
