Street Racer SR02/Shimano 105 Complete Bike

The Street Racer SR02/Shimano 105 Complete Bike brings the soul of BMC frameset technology to an entry-level price point. Using the same Integrated Skeleton Technology (ISC) design ridden by Cadel Evans, George Hincapie, and the rest of Team BMC during the 2011 racing season, the Street Racer provides a level of climbing and sprinting stiffness equal to that of any fat-tubed aluminum frame. But thanks to the innovative design behind its triple-butted 7005 aluminum tubeset, you won't end up with the harshness you feel all too often in most other aluminum frames. Its full-aluminum construction keeps the price low, but you can rest assured that you'll end up with a bike that rides with the sweetness of a frame costing twice as much.

We have it paired here with a Shimano 105 component group that includes a 50/34t compact crankset, 11/28t cassette, derailleurs, and integrated brake levers/shifters. BMC's house brand alloy component line, Scor, gets the nod for the brake calipers, handlebar, stem, seat, and seatpost. The house brand parts are there to keep the cost down, but you won't feel slighted as they look as nice as or nicer than many name brand parts we've seen. The highlight is the handlebar; it has short/shallow dimensions and subtle ergonomic shaping reminiscent of Zipp's high end carbon bars. The Street Racer rolls on A-Class SR20 wheels, and the Continental Ultra Sport 23mm clincher tires will keep you stuck to the road as you blast through sweeping corners at speed.

The Street Racer SR02/Shimano 105 Complete Bike is available in Red and White and in compact geometry in five sizes -- 48, 51, 54, 57, and 60cm. The BMC Straightedge SE48 fork has a 1-1/8" straight aluminum steerer and carbon fiber legs.
