Speedfox SF01 Deore/SLX Complete Mountain Bike

The BMC Speedfox SF01 Deore/SLX 2013 Complete Mountain Bike is built to get dirty. Its five inches of APS-controlled travel give you the trail-smoothing suspension you need, with plenty of efficiency when it comes time to lay down the power. And with a Shimano build kit, and Fox suspension, it’s ready for anything that comes its way.

The SF01 uses a triple-butted, hydroformed alloy tubeset. BMC's iSC (integrated Skeleton Concept) optimizes weight savings, strength, and ride characteristics by using Finite Elements Method (FEM) computer technology. Every 6000 series aluminum tube is shaped to exacting standards; what you get is a frame that reacts to rider inputs like power application, steering, and braking with impeccable efficiency and precision. BMC's extra attention to tube shape results in a frame that maximizes weight savings and stiffness.

Stroke is controlled using BMC's patented Advanced Pivot System rear suspension. It's essentially a mini-link rear suspension that creates a floating pivot. And by positioning the floating pivot relative to the chainrings, the APS suspension maintains the efficient pedaling characteristic that world class riders demand from a high-performance trail bike. Its 120mm of race-ready rear wheel travel is damped by a Scor air shock. The APS rear suspension is active throughout the travel range, accomplished by BMC's insistence on a nearly linear wheel rate. So although you'll get a suspension that is tuned for maximum acceleration and traction, it still yields the full 120mm of travel when you need it.

This particular SF01 is runs on a Shimano Deore drivetrain, with the exception of an SLX rear derailleur. Avid Elixir 1s keep your speed in check. Suspension duties are handled by a Scor rear shock, and a Rock Shox Recon Gold TK fork. Scor supplies the stem, handlebar, seatpost and saddle. The wheels are Shimano hubs, laced to Alex XD-Comp rims, wrapped in Schwalbe tires.
