BMC Road Racer SL01/Shimano Ultegra Complete Bike - 2012 $0.00
Whether you're looking to upgrade or purchase your first race-level bicycle, the BMC Road Racer SL01/Shimano Ultegra Complete Bike balances performance and budget, to leave some scratch for gear too. Full carbon construction provides stiffness under power, yet it's compliant for comfort. The technology packed Road Racer SL01 effortlessly accelerates, turns with precision, and dampens road imperfections. Top off those riding traits with the smooth-shifting, Shimano Ultegra Group and you're riding a top-performing machine.
BMC uses the latest carbon manufacturing processes to fine tune the Road Racer SL01's tubing into weight, strength, and aerodynamically optimized profiles. These minute modifications allow stiffness where it's needed without causing the Road Racer to ride like a spine-jarring jackhammer. Take a look at the down tube and seat tube. At the bottom bracket junction, they're as wide as possible. Ditto with the chainstays where they connect to the bottom bracket, they're as tall as the shell -- it'd be impossible to go any larger. Toss a leg over this BMC and expect to feel race-winning power transfer.
The Road Racer SL01 employs BMC's Integrated Skeleton Concept (ISC) where the seat stays join the seat and top tubes in a distinctive manner. Aside from screaming 'BMC' in a peloton, this design ensures that road shock is transferred into the axis of the top tube, sending stress to the strongest part of the frame -- the streamlined head tube. Here, a tapered, integrated headset houses an oversized lower bearing for the compliant, yet stiff BMC SE48 SL TP carbon fork to spin around. This combination gives the Road Racer SL01 excellent steering precision for confident tracking through fast corners.
The Road Racer SL01 has been paired with a complete Shimano Ultegra 6700-G component group, including either a 50/34 compact or 53/39 standard crank. Other details include Easton's EA30 alloy handlebar with EA70 stem. DT Swiss provides the rims, hubs, and spokes naturally culminating in the DT R-1650 Wheelset. They're stout enough for everyday training, but aero and light enough for race day. You'll also get Continental Ultra Race 700c x 23mm clincher tires. If you're looking for a serious race bike to get you through multiple seasons of racing, the Road Racer would be an excellent choice.
The BMC Road Racer SL01/Shimano Ultegra Complete Bike is available in Red and comes in five sizes -- 48, 51, 54, 57, and 60cm.

2011 BMC SL01 54cm Excellent Value
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Thought I'd share my thoughts on this bike for anyone looking to purchase one 2nd hand. I have 3 years and several thousand kilometers on it thus far. Not just a spin around the parking lot...the people that review something after a spin around the parking lot...what are they thinking?
The frame is stiff and responsive, yet rides smoother than my previous aluminum specialized allez. The geometry is racy, of course. I am 175cm tall with long arms and long legs and the fit is pretty good. For longer rides I would rather a 90mm stem perhaps, but most of my rides are short and punchy...28km, 700 meters climbing, just under an hour ride time. I feel this is a great bike for rides like this.
Shimano components are great, as usual.
The DT Swiss R1700 wheelset that came on these are awesome. Spin soooper smooth and fast. Just coasting along I pass everyone even with several thousand km's on them they are still going strong.
My only complaint about this bike is the aero seatpost. No flex at all and no possibility to swap for an aftermarket post.
At the sale price of just a hair under $2000, this is about the best bike you could think about buying for the money. I bought one for my wife, and she absolutely loves riding it. Her previous bike was an alloy Cannondale with similar components, and she feels like the carbon's dampening abilities allow her to ride longer and more comfortably.

Good evening! Does your "no questions asked" return policy work the same for bicycles?
It does, indeed, Skelitor! Just have one of your evil henchmen hit us up and we will get whatever the issue is that you have taken care of.

can any substitutions be made on this bike and ifso, at what cost:

Had a chance to road test this bike...

This BMC frame is very sleek looking and once in the saddle, I was able to take it out for 25 mile test run. Frame was very responsive and easily dampened all but the worst of road bumps/conditions. At this price...and with this Ultegra component set... this bike is a steal!

I couldn't be happier. This bike really reduces road vibration and is very responsive.
Competition cycles (backcountry) gave me a great deal. They were slow on delivery, but so far the bike was worth the wait.
