Good cheap alternative

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I purchased these for my single-speed commuter. I have 28c tires on and on occasion, when turning the fenders rub on the tire but they do work as intended.

Doesn't fit stated size

This product has a major flaw, doesn't fit the stated size out of the box. During installation I realized the struts are way to long for my 700c tires. Some online research revealed similar reviews. Apparently they can be made to fit by trimming down the struts but this seems like an unnecessary step. Wheels are a standard size so I don't know why the sizing would be so off. I can understand some micro adjusting but having to trim several inches off the strut? Backcountry was money on the return.

** update **

Instead of sending the fenders back I actually did mount the fenders and trim the struts to fit my bike. All in all the process wasn't that difficult as long as you have the proper tool to trim the struts. I really think this product would benefit from more detailed mounting instructions considering I'm pretty sure some sort of strut trimming will be necessary on 99% of installations. Now that they are mounted I haven't had any issues.
