Macon moves.

The Bern Macon EPS Helmet is a fixture from Georgia skateparks to BC dirt jumps, and it's not hard to figure out why. The ABS ThinShell and EPS Hard Foam construction is fully certified to protect your melon on dirt, snow, and pavement, making it a perfect lid for all-season adventures, and the passive ventilation and lightweight summer liner help your dome stay cool when you're getting rowdy during the summer months. When it gets cold, just pick up the winter liner and take the Macon onto the mountain—it's also fully certified as a snow helmet.

My year round brain bucket.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I mountain bike with it in the summer, ski with it over a thin beanie in the winter. Fits well, looks decent. Saved me from a lot of concussions.

Switched over from Hard Hat

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

After viewing a few videos about the difference between soft foam vs hard foam helmets, I decided my days in a Hard Hat snowboarding were over. The science is out that EPS is much safer. Previously I've been rocking a Macon Hard Hat for the last 7 years. I always wore XL in that helmet. Switching to the EPS, with adjustable band, I would say the following. Yes, the Hard Hat is slightly more comfortable, but I found the sizes comparable. I don't think this fit "small" in comparison to what I was expecting. I'd say it was more true to size. The way the EPS feels it almost seems slightly higher on my head, but I think that is due to the lighter weight construction. The top of my goggle still aligns well with the bottom of the helmet. My favorite new feature is the adjustable band. You really get an exact fit.

I'm glad I made the switch. I use this helmet for snowboarding and biking. When boarding, I wear a balaclava under it.
