Item # BEL0033

Only the best for your craziest rides.

With Bell's long history in motosports, it's not surprising that the new Full-9 was developed with the same expertise gleaned from its motorcycling heritage. Engineers at Bell incorporated many of the advanced design characteristics from its flagship Moto-9 when building the new bike-specific helmet, along with over a year's worth of feedback gathered from professional downhill riders. The result is a bike-tuned, best-in-class full-face helmet that's ready to take on anything that you'll encounter while on your mountain or BMX.

The shell of the Full-9 was built with a unidirectional carbon, Kevlar, and a fiberglass blend. This yields an incredibly light, yet durable outer-material that doesn't weigh you down and cause the fatigue that many other full-face helmets are known for. Underneath the Full-9's shell, Bell added its fully-removable X-Static Magnefusion cheek pads. You can also enable what Bell calls its 'Eject System,' which, in the event of an injury, provides safe and easy removal of the helmet due to a recess in the EPS that allows the cheek pads to quickly slide out. Another innovative design within the helmet's internal structure is the Overbrow Ventilation system. Combined with the shell's 10 vents, this intake system was adopted from Bell's moto-proven Velocity Flow Ventilation. Basically, this is a means to actively channel cool air over the head through three ports on the brow of the helmet. The design is suspended over your head inside the helmet in order to keep the ducting free from obstruction, which results in keeping you fully ventilated and cool as you ride.

The Full-9 takes its design cues from the motocross circuit, but its modern integrated features reflect exactly what top bike riders demanded in a full-face design. Bell listened, and it packed the Full-9 with elements to keep you both safe and to enhance your overall riding experience. Take, for example, the helmet's removable camera mount. This integrated mount seamlessly connects your wearable camera in the most ideal spot, without using any additional tape or zip-ties. The removable, 360-degree breakaway mount locks into the Full-9's top vent, which turns into an additional vent when not in use. This means that regardless of what direction you fall, or if you get smacked by a tree branch, your precious camera cleanly pops off to protect your neck, camera, and helmet. By positioning the mount directly top and center on the helmet, your camera safely clicks into the ideal position in order to capture your rides. Additionally, the mount's co-molded rubber pad reduces vibration and noise when riding rough terrain. And speaking of making your ride more enjoyable, Bell also added its built-in speaker pockets and integrated cable routing. Called Soundtrax, this system allows you to connect your tunes through a cable that smoothly exits the rear of the helmet.

Finishing touches include a padded chin strap with a D-ring closure, a fully-adjustable Flying Bridge visor, and and integrated roost guard. The helmet weighs around 1050 grams and is certified to CPSC; ASTM BMX, Downhill, and CE standards. Please note: The Bell Full-9 ships with two camera mounts -- one for GoPro and one for Contour.

The Bell Full-9 is available in six sizes from X-Small to XX-Large and in the colors Aaron Gwin Signature, Black/yellow hurricane, Matte Black Carbon, Tayliens, and White/black carbon emblem.

After having a few seasons(and crashes) on the TLD D3, this year was time to swap in a new lid. After some comparison between the Fox, TLD, and Bell - I went with the Full-9. All are awesome carbon lids. All are rad, with little style differences.

I've laid down in the D3, and it's saved me. But I never took a straight head first wreck on the thing. I unfortunately got the experience of taking a serious head first spill with the Bell - full speed, cased a significant drop, and landed about 12' down straight to the forehead. My head was rung, but at that speed and height, I'm lucky it wasn't much worse.

There's something to be said about wrecking like that and walking(er limping) away. I can't say if any other helmet would've been better or worse in the situation, but Bell made me a believer of their Full-9 after this experience.

bought the bell full-9 in "tagger scrub" last year for downhill. huge upgrade from my giro remedy. Fit is great (wear 7 3/8 hat, went with the large). Fits much better than any TLD that i tried on. Get compliments on the graphics all the time. Its not cheap, but you can't really put a $ amount on your brain, so pony up and buy this helmet!

So light, so nice

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have a massive head. If you have a massive head - I'm talking XXL here! - get a helmet like this. It's a real problem finding helmets that fit and this nailed it. Also finding helmets that fit that are light enough to not be annoying is a problem. This thing feels as light as my normal trail helmet. On top of that, it's flipping hot down here in Sydney, this helmet isn't amazing in the hot, but it is bloody good. I can recommend.

Light and So Nice.

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I wear a 7 1/2 - 7 5/8 pro fit hat and the XL is the correct size for me. I lucked out, because the Tayleins design goes with my bike and it fits my personality. Everything looks top of the line. The fabric is soft, and my ears have room to breathe. I haven't tested it on a hot day, but the vents appear to be engineered to help your head breathe. I'm stoked.
