Avid's XX Disc Brake is a super lightweight brake that takes the best Avid technologies and eliminates any excess. This includes everything from the lever to the caliper.
This includes Avid features like Power Reserve. The Carbon levers pivot point is close to the bars for easy and natural leverage. It's based on the Elixir design, but it forgoes the tool-free reach adjustment in order to save a little weight. The lever is connected to a forged magnesium body with a slim, one-bolt U-clamp.
The U-clamp is able to be swapped out for SRAM's Matchmaker clamp. This simplifies and reduces weight when attaching shift levers and suspension remotes. Integrated into the body and piston assembly is TaperBore Technology, where the master cylinder reservoir resides to not only save weight but to give superb modulation and feel. The levers are also ambidextrous, meaning that they're suitable for both left and right applications.
The caliper is made from two pieces of forged magnesium, meaning that two bolts hold the caliper together. There's an external, adjustable banjo for clean line routing. Additionally, there isn't any complex hardware to weigh the caliper down. There are two HSX rotors available for front brake applications, 160 or 180mm. The Avid XX Disc Brake arrives pre-bled with DOT 5.1, and it's available in the color Black.
