Description

Stop on a dime.

The Avid Elixir CR Disc Brake uses oversized pistons to give you stopping power comparable to dual-piston designs but without the tuning hassles. Tool-free adjustments help you dial in these Avid brakes quickly—even during your ride. Of course, you also get carbon levers to keep things light, and fast-cooling G3 Clean Sweep rotors to eliminate brake heating.

Avid Elixir CRs do the job, but like Avid are noisy

My Avid Elixir CR Brakes have excellent stopping power. I have two gripes though with these. They were hard to seat when I installed them. The back brake went on smooth but the front took a lot of work and adjustment. Second, these brakes can be quite noisy especially on long down hills that require frequent braking. Performance wise though these are top notch. Just too bad about the noise other wise I would give them a higher rating.

Slowing down is cool...

And, they really do stop on a dime. As a disc brake noob, these puppies rock! Very smooth stopping and great control when slowing over obstacles or whenever I wuss out. These are very easy to adjust and the levers feel great even with my long and spindly fingers. I use these brakes F and R and am completely happy with their performance. I've done a pretty good job of scratching the carbon levers from crashing and/or bailing, but they have held up great to my abuse.
